I think the Ruger Super Redhawk is a little sturdier.

Did I hear Redhawk?
Y'all are reading my mind. Maybe we need a new thread where folks school me in the virtues of the Redhawk?

The newer SRH shown above is a all forged gun. The frame area extends and shrouds the barrel. I had a 9 1/2" model for years. Absolute tack driver. The SRH with its unconventional look does not appeal to the purist at heart. I ended up selling mine and keeping my 7 1/2" RH.
The standard RH is a investment cast gun. Still super strong and able to handle boomers all day long. It was dropped for a month or two from the catalog listing. Back in the listing along with a new Distributor Special snubby model. Living in MA I can't buy the snubby as it is not approved. I'd be all over it. Can't wait to move.

OK OK already! They are great guns and will likely outlast any owners. But if you guys keep posting all this the prices will keep going up and the supply will continue to decline and I will never get that 2 1/2 inch to go with my 4 inch stainless security six.
Seriously the first half of my long life I was in the dairy business. (born into it actually) but there were feral dogs, coyotes, rabid skunks and other varmints that one needed to deal with. I carried a 4 inch stainless Security Six and at times and or my 29-2 to address the problems. That Ruger was an absolute reliable accurate and rugged piece. That's why I still have a 4 inch and want a 2 1/2 inch. The last half of my life I got into the copshop and carry "electric guns" and trust them but around the old farmstead I carry my old Ruger because I know what it and I both can do. Don't repeat this but everybody needs a Ruger.

As a "new owner" I understand what your saying, (1981 Security Six) but damn, it's hard not to talk about them once you own one!
I'm late to the party as usual.

I doubt that you'll ever find that elusive 2.5 inch Speed-Six. The barrel is really a nominal 2.75 inches, and a full three inches on the last series.
