Default Saw a classic 1911 for sale.

With all the 1911 interest there seems to be on here I saw
one in a LGS yesterday that would make someone with deep
pockets pretty happy. I didn't ask to examine it, it's a bit
rich for me. Colt made in 1918 that looks to be in very clean
original condition. The price...three thou on the tag. I don't
know enough about 1911 pricing to know if that's a fair price
or not. One thing's sure..you don't see them everyday. That
shop has some other vintage guns also like a Colt Lightning
22 rifle that dates to 1905 I think he said. I grabbed one
more in my price range that looked to be in nice shape. A
Winchester md 72 bolt action 22 rifle with original peep
sight and no rear sight on the barrel for $170 OTD.

I admitted to myself I'd never pay that kind of money for an older 1911 war horse. I also feel I'd never own one. The most senceable thing to do was to purchase the closest possible 1911 clone as I could get. I purchased a 2005 Auto-Ordnance Army WW 2 copy 1911a1 in Gray park. It's an awesome shooter and looker. It was only $389 at the time now it's around $500 I think. It's a no frills, no bells or whistles plain jane 1911a1. It's an awesome shooter right out of the box.
