Unique 1966 Colt Agent Lightweight
Buddy from the lgs called and had this one for me. It was priced right too. Alledgedly belonged to a deceased LEO. Hammer has been bobbed, obivously a homemade job. The interesting thing is notice the trigger guard starting at 6 O'clcok and going up to 3 O'clock. He took about 3/16-1/4 inch off of that area. I have seen tons of Fitz specials, etc. but this configuration is a new one on me. Any ideas why he would do this. $250. I just couldn't leave it set. I like it. One more shot than my 342 too.

A friend of mine here in MA had an S&W, maybe a 27 but I don't really remember, that had that done at the factory! It was on some kind of commemorative or special run or somesuch. I think that the idea was to be sure not to impede getting the finger on the trigger without introducing the possible problem of an actual Fitz job.

The thinned forward trigger guard was standard on the Texas Ranger commemorative model 19. Not sure how much extra time it takes the finger to go the (now missing) 1/4" of metal to get to the trigger...

Bill Jordan, the famous Border Patrolman/Marine, had huge hands and would do this to his service revolvers.

Congrats!
For $250 I'd buy that in a heart beat.

...........like everybody else said don't know if it makes much difference, but shoot even a fraction of a second can make the difference between first place and second place.

Yep, have seen the thinned trigger guard before...Biggest criticism has been that somewhat like the cut out front of the guard , it makes bending it if dropped and blocking the trigger possible if thinned too much...I don't know if that has ever actually happened...I do like that old Colt and for $250, I would buy it if I had any money for such luxuries.

250 smackers? How many do you have at that price? I just saw a NIB Agent, the original with the unshrouded ejector rod at a show for $700.
The above posters are correct. Bill Jordan displays this trigger guard mod in his book. Late 60s would be the time that this mod was in vogue.
