Any "Love" for the Ruger Charger?
I bought a Ruger Charger a few years back..It is sort of an acquired taste, in that it is mostly fired from a bipod and is boringly accurate..Fun little shooter and has been discontinued..
I bought it because it looked cool..Since discontinued , they are bring a pretty good price..
Anyone have one ?
Here's mine..

I've saw a couple for sale, I think even one here on the forum not long ago. I like the concept of a 10/22 pistol, it's probably not the most practical gun but that can be said for a lot of other gun designs as well.

22 cal rimfire, based on the Ruger 22 rifle (10/22)..The Charger is considered a pistol, due the bbl length and pistol stock...
What with shooting from the bipod, it is mainly used for tree rats off your back porch deck rail....The mag's from a 10/22 and internal parts are inter changeable...
Totally a "niche" weapon...

Here's mine, bought it when they first came out. Has a Burris 2-7 and seems to shoot pretty good, but I really haven't shot it much. Didn't know they had been discontinued.

I had to have one when they first came out, so I ran right out and bought one. I never could figure out what to do with it...Should I put a Long Eye Relief pistol scope on it? A regular rifle scope? A Red Dot? I shot it a few times, and gave up on it. I took the barrel off, put a threaded carbine barrel on it, dropped it into a Deluxe Sporter stock, and now it lives life as a regular 10/22.
I think I would have liked it better with open sights. I always wanted a 10/22 based pistol, but the Charger didnt scratch that itch for me.It was too big to fire offhand, so its not really a pistol. It just never felt right in any way. I still have everything and could put it back together if I wanted, but I like the rifle it became, so thats what its staying as.

I had the same quandary about the scope..Mine came with a Simmons 4x rifle scope, which didn't make sense due to the eye relief of a rifle scope on a pistol..I put a red dot on and all is well..
BTW, those not familiar with the Charger may not know they came in a variety of colored stocks, some downright wild looking..

There is a pretty sweet kit to make a 10/22 look like a Tommy gun. The one they made specific for the Charger is really cool looking. You'd get a lot of attention at the range for sure.

I have one. Was on the fence getting one for awhile and jumped on one after they announced discontinuation. Kids get the most fun out of shooting them because of the accuracy. 30 yards with a cheap red dot, 1000 rounds of .22lr, a couple cases of full soda cans you are the hero at a youth shoot.
I also have some kidd hop-up parts Inside that I changed.

Just saw ruger has brought back the charger! New features include two versions one being a takedown, picatinny rail instead of a weaver, threaded barrel end, and a new bx-15 mag. There are a couple youtube videos out already and a suppressor really quiets it down. Super excited to get a takedown
Version and start modding again!

It seems like the stock is awkard and a bit ugly. Maybe a lightweight, streamline synthetic stock and I would like it more. Or if it had a permanently attached supressor and a folding stock I might want one.

I don't see the point of a take down pistol. Other than just throwing lead down range, I do not see the usefulness. .22 is hard enough to find.
