I just saw an add for the Ruger AR 556 black rifle and was wondering if anyone has any experience with this gun?

Ordered one from CDNN and picked it up from my FFL yesterday. Haven't had a chance to shoot it this weekend but I did totally disassemble and clean it. Seems to be very well made for an "entry level" AR15/M4. Nice fit and finish on all parts and, for me at least, put together at one location. MSRP had been list at $749 but I got mine for just under $600. FWIW CDNN even threw in extra mags. I know some will not want or care about forward assist or dust covers, still will compete with the M&P 15.

Sport has melonite barrel, Ruger has neither melonite barrel nor hard chrome. So, the trade off is harder, more corrosion and wear resistant barrel for the FA and DC. As it is Ruger, I feel certain the quality would be fine for defense and range and match shooting. It seems like a good home defense package.
