Had a Visit
Had a visit from an old friend. He's a 100% gun nut. Here's what the living room looked like after he had left. It was a GREAT visit; can't wait to have him over again.

About 5 months ago, I was at a gathering of Gun Nuts fora Sunday afternoon of information exchange (A.K.A. a BS session) plus Show and Tell. One of the gentleman had a satchel full of military flintlock pistols, mostly US. He did have a pair of French pistols the were Marquis Lafayette personal carry guns.
I had a German C-96 from China with a Chinese stock. A man with prosthetic hands (Grabbing hook style) found the C-96 to be the first "handgun" he could use. When he ask about accuracy, I showed him 100 yard groups of 3" using the stock; this gun has a bore with maybe 1 groove the length of the barrel. China's love of the C-96 was America's gain!
A collector of commercial Thompson Machine guns was there also showing some of his treasures also. There were 7 or 8 of us total, and it is one of the best ways to spend an afternoon. Ivan

Sounds like fun, Ivan. Incidently, the Mauser's sights are adjusted for use with the stock. Held in one hand, pistol fashion, they shoot about one foot high at 25 yards, because of the greater flip than when used with the stock.

You know what stunned me about the first Thompson I ever held and shot? The WEIGHT! Just looking at them, one has no idea how heavy they are. They look like a light weight carbine, they are really a CLUB.
