Default Help w/ BHP bite

I'm not talking slide bite here. That type of bite is an easy cure.

Now that I have my 1st BHP C series I am getting interested.

I am afraid that it might get serious enough that I begin to sell Smiths!

A little hyperbole (TG4SC) on my part. However the high regard that I have seen on our forum for these pistols peaks my interest to investigate further.
I registered on 1911fourm. That answers that.

A big topic I know.

Early questions:

1-Is mine a legitate BPH or a clone?
1a- What range might the value be now? I am wondering of course did I over pay. (I might fess up.)

2- Tell me a little about the Capitan please.

3- If I start looking for a non-clone shooter, give me a possible common price.

4- If I am looking for other BPH owners online where would you point me? PMs okay on this one.
EDIT: I registed on the 1911. That answers that question.

Enough for one thread. Thanks in advance.

Joe

TG4SC = Thank goodness for spell check

That appears to he a Browning HI Power C series made in 1976. I do not see anything to make me think otherwise. It is worth what you paid for it... LOL

New guns that are matte finished are $800 to $900 depending on your local market. I have seen similar guns sell for $800 with the box/manual/pouch etc.... I personally might not pay that but the market is what it is.

2- Tell me a little about the Capitan please.

The Capitan is the designation for a commerical BHP with a Tangent Sight

3- If I start looking for a non-clone shooter, give me a possible common price.

Sub $400 for a LNIB clone you can get non clone shooter BHPs for under $450 OTD on Gun Broker. It will be a surplus gun most likely from Israel. For a commerical gun expect to pay about $550 plus depending on vintage and condition.

4-If I am looking for other BHP owners online where would you point me? PMs okay on this one.

For shooter a great source is Coles Dist if you have a good transfer dealer. Start at $359 + Shipping up to about $489.

Enough for one thread. Thanks in advance.

Trolley;
Looks like your SpellCheck didn't catch your misspelling of "piques my interest".

WVSig;
Check your abbreviations
BHP = Browning High Power
BPH = Benign Prostate Hyperplasia
One good, the other, not so much.
Just sayin'. ;-)

Larry

Really Larry that is all you can add? if you look closely all the to BPHs are quotes of the OP not that it matters but I am glad to see the spelling police are here on the S&W forum to keep us all safe. LOL You would think that if you are going to correct people in this manner you would at least get it right????

Talking

I traded a S&W Model 27-2 with 6 inch barrel in excellent condition for my 1976 Model Browning HP with adjustable sights and both of us were happy with the deal.
