3 sequentially numbered Officers Model Target 38SP Boston Police revolvers
They are not Smith but that is why I posted this in the lounge. I collect Boston Police guns, not just Smith's.
I just scored 3 sequentially serial numbered Colt Officers Model Target Revolvers from the Boston Police Dept. They were on gunbroker from a dealer in Arizona. I called Colt to confirm that they were Boston PD and then bid on the guns. According to Colt there were part of an 11 gun shipment to the BPD in the late 30’s for their pistol team. I already had a Officers Model Target in .22 lr that was one of 5 guns made for the BPD.
The pictures make them look at least 80% I will figure that out when they arrive.

I had OMT's in both .22 and .38, sold them to buy more S&W's both were good guns. That is a very cool score.

The are from the 30's and the BPD rack numbers, two of them are also sequential, the two heavy barreled revolvers and the other one is 5 numbers higher

Someone said to me that the numbers on the backstrap were not sequential but those are random numbers from BPD, the serial numbers are what are sequential

Very nice score! Congrats. I learnt pistolcraft on a club-owned Colt OMM after getting out of the military. They are fine guns.

BPD guns may have been stolen by the Post Office!
Could be bad news, these guns were in transit to me and were scanned as departed the Brockton MA Post Office to transit 15 miles to my local Post Office on Thanksgiving Day at 11:44 pm.
It is now 24 hours later and they haven't shown up. All day yesterday I was talking with the Postmaster at my local PO and they can't find them. They say they don't know what happened as they show as departing one PO and never arrived at the other PO.
GOD I hope they are just waylaid somewhere!
These are the most significant Boston Police guns that I have seen in my collecting career and where going to be the jewel of my collection and they may have been stolen.
I will be going to the PO tomorrow and hope they finally showed up, but I could walk from one PO to the other in this time, and back for that matter.
I will be so bummed out if they were indeed "lost"!

Don't sweat it. The USPS has a short cut that defies even the most skewed logic. They'll show up.

Mike is right. They'll turn up in the morning. Keep us posted.
These are beautiful revolvers that truly belong in your BPD collection!!
Congrats!!
Charles
P.S.,
I actually have an OMT from '32 that was used by the NYPD Pistol Team. I wonder if our guns ever competed with each other??

GREAT NEWS, IT'S BAAAACCCKKKKK
The Postmaster just called me and she said she has the box in her hand! what a relief! Of course 4 days for a 2nd day package I was going out of my mind, mainly because these guns are so rare. Thank you all forum members for putting up with my panic attack.
You can see them at the Sturbridge and Marlboro and then Wilmington shows.

Charles,
I would assume yes! I know that the BPD team went to Camp Perry in 1938 for sure.
I am sure that BPD beat NYPD just like the Red Sox beat the Evil Empire - I mean Yankees

Glad they turned up, I said a prayer for you last night before I fell asleep. It would have been a real shame to loose them.

Nice additions to your collection. Which I've seen at more than one show.
