What's the difference?
I was looking online at some 45's and I noticed they have a 45 ACP and a 45 GAP. What's the difference?
Thanks

The GAP, Glock auto pistol is a little shorter. I think it was designed to free up about that much space for some unknown benefit.

I think that the benefit was to achieve the same grip size as a 9mm glock. As far as I know, it is/was an abysmal failure.

It was attempt to keep the grip size the same as a Glock 17/19/22/23 but shoot a fatter round. Here is a reference. .45 GAP - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A former bowling buddy had a Glock 38 in this caliber. I shot it once and was left with the resounding impression of "meh". I didn't see any advantage over 9mm, 40 S&W or 45ACP.

Don't forget the .38acp, .380acp, and .25acp.
The .45GAP is a classic example of an answer in search of a question.

Actually....
The 45 GAP is what the 45acp would have been over 100 years ago if they had today's modern powders -- A shorter cartridge case.

PA State Police went from .40 s&w to .45 GAP, then finally dumped it for .45acp.
