Default 1911 Colt Commander

Found this interesting Commander the other day. From what I can find - it was limited to 500 pieces with roIl mark 'Custom Carry'. They came with some factory enhancements. This one sports a trigger with a set screw and a cut down grip safety which I'm pretty sure didn't come from Colt that way. Anyway I thought it was a nice looking Colt.

It is a nice looking pistol. A good bit of stainless with an alloy frame. I think there were several variations made...I've seen some with an extended slide release, and several different types of grip panels. I think some were distributed by Lew Horton. Different production numbers for different distributors, and with special serial numbers. Except for the different grips, rollmarks, and other doodads, it's a typical lightweight Commander...a dependable pistol. Series 80 firing mechanism, I think.

I think so, I believe it was mfg around 1994 which would be Series 80. Serial number is CCP16X. So about in the middle of the run.

I have a couple Combat Commanders.
Would have more if I'd started favoring them before
they got so expensive.
