Default Wilson Combat 1911 bbl bushing compensator

A buddy of mine purchased a Wilson Combat bushing compensator for his Remington R1. Installs easily and pretty straight forward. My question is that it seems that the barrel now has a little bit of slop in it compared to the stock barrel bushing. he has not fired it yet. Any of you guys seen this before?

I've been pondering getting this for my RIA GI 5".
I'd be interested in seeing some reports on it.

I haven't tried one,but being a one size fits all bushing,it would have to be on the loose side.

I genuinely don't see the need for a compensator on a semi-auto .45 pistol. Even with hotter loads, the recoil just isn't that harsh. A compensator looks cool (to some people, I suppose), but other than that...well, there is no "other than that" for me. Plus, you put one of the things on, you're increasing the length of the pistol, meaning it probably won't fit in your holster any more. I think they're overhyped by makers like Wilson as a solution to a "problem" that really isn't that much of a problem. Just something else to spend money on with minimal results. Just my opinion.

I tried one on my 45 when shooting bowling pins. It worked ok, but accuracy went bad. I maybe could feel the difference

Want it?

Don't expect the accuracy to be as good. The principle of the compensator is that the gases will be directed up and keep the muzzle down for faster follow-up shots. In practical use, only an integral compensator where the exit hole in the muzzle is the same as the bore of the barrel (or just lightly larger) will capture enough gasses to have any effect.
