SiG P238
Would you pocket carry a cocked and locked P238? If not, why?

I definitely would. Not much point in not being ready to use a defensive firearm, IMO.
Stay safe, John

In pocket carry, couldn't the safety get "bumped off", so you end up with cocked but not locked?

It no different than any other method of carry with a single action pistol.

In a proper pocket holster that covers the trigger, yes I would.

I carry my P938 in pocket sometimes. ALWAYS cocked with safety on and in a proper holster.

No. Sig makes a MUCH better product than that.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!!! One of the safety gun rules is never trust a mechanical safety. Would you point your loaded long gun at any part of your body and trust the mechanical safety? Larry

Because.... the safety is going to just flip itself off, and then the trigger is going to pull itself.
Aside from the thumb safety, there's also an internal safety that blocks the firing pin when the trigger isn't pulled.

I wouldn't because I am not comfortable with 1911 style guns. Not saying right or wrong here just that I wouldn't at this point and time.

No.
I don't have any problem with carrying the gun cocked and locked. I just don't like pocket carry for any gun. Get a good holster.

I prefer to leave the hammer one click back. It's easy for me to thumb the hammer back into the cocked position as I pull it out of my pocket or holster. The P238 and P938 are both the perfect size to carry undetected in a pocket, but in all honesty, for a carry gun I prefer the P239 because it is SA/DA and I can leave one in the chamber with the hammer in a safe position.
