Got my first revolver today -- a M1895 Nagant
Bought this off AIM Surplus last week when it was $189 for a random pick of their latest shipment. The one I got is 1924 CCCP stamped and in really, really nice shape (or so I believe). Came with a holster, cleaning rod and screwdriver tool. Wood grips. I bought it to take to the range, but its almost too pretty to take out to the range.

Nice. You'll be acquiring more revolvers in no time.

I had one, they are neat revolvers.
Finding proper ammo can be tricky and I was hesitant to use the .32's in the gun unless I had the .32acp cylinder.
...but it would be cool (doing it over) if you took one of those, got two extra .32acp cylinders and reamed one to take .32 long or possibly .32hr mag, so you'd have a gun that takes five different rounds.

I think these have all been "arsenal refinished", so no worries about getting it dirty. Can't imagine these made it through the "Great Patriotic War" completely unscathed.
I have one, it shoots OK with the .32 ACP cylinder but the DA pull will build your finger strength quickly . Enjoy!

Gotta be the longest hammer mounted firing pin in existence!

Oh yeah, the firing pin on this thing is unreal! And yes, I definitely found that crazy heavy trigger pull while tinkering with it last night.
Currently trying to source some ammo locally before I go out and buy a bunch off the internet.
Hopefully the first of many revolver purchases in my lifetime.

No Ralph the D.D Oury pocket revolver has also a very long firing pin.
I tought i did have a photo of the firing pin. But due the low hammer the firing pin is long to reach the primer.
i am very busy with work now but I shall trye to place a picture of the firingpin.
It is one of the few well made Belgium revolvers. It is really good quality,

Good for you, those things are just wonky enough to be cute! With it's un needed move the cylinder forward to seal the bore mechanism and weird ammo to match it was a bit of a disaster from day one, and that is exactly what makes it so interesting. I've always meant to get one myself. Let us know how it shoots and enjoy that one.

I have one of these that a friend gave me for Christmas maybe 10- 15 years ago. I also got the whole package too. While he wouldn't say how much he gave for it, I know at the time it was less than $75.
I actually think you did ok. I've seen these at gun shows recently selling for $239.
When I got mine, ammo was near impossable to find. However, you could get a .32acp cylinder for around $25. That's what I did. Now it seems that ammo is avalible and its the extra cylinders that are rare.
At gun shows over the last year or so I've been finding Prvi Partizan ammo at reasonable prices. Its good stuff and shoots well.
Yep, these things are rough as a cob and certianly no target pistol. But they are a lot of fun.

One more thing. Due to the unique gas seal system, the Nagant can be suppressed.
Yep, a silenced revolver. Who'd a thunk it?

Since I just read this thread yesterday, it came to mind when I received an email advertisement this afternoon.
I hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting this, and I'm not affiliated with these folks in any way. Open the link and the sale price of $21.95 comes up.
Ammo To Go : 50rds - 7.62 Nagant Fiocchi 98gr. FMJ Ammo [762A] - $26.95

The ammo was wonky for US but plentiful over there. Made from 1895 to the 50s. I'd consider that anything but a disaster. As far as potency of the cal...that's a different story

Not all the Nagant revolvers were of the "gas seal" design. Late in production, that feature was deemed either unnecessary or too expensive to produce, so the design was altered to a more normal, rotate-only cylinder (no axial movement), but with the same chambering.
I have read that many of these will accept & fire .32-20 ammo, but personally have no experience. Please keep us posted.

The Nagant revolver was a few years ago free for sale in Belgium.
They where sold for about 200 euro or even less. Loads and loads where sold up to 30.000.
As expected not only to collectors but also to other people with no good intentions. The revolvers where sold including the holster. The people who only want the revolver leaved the holster on the parkinglot.
At that time it was possible to buy the ammo free in the nearby country Luxembourgh.
The 30.000 triggers the Belgium governement (Also with the shooting incident at Liege) and ordered that the Nagant and a lot of at that moment free guns has to be on permit again. But in reality a lot of Nagants are very illigal now.

That's gotta take the title for longest revolver firing pin. Glad I didn't have any money bet on this.
What cartridge is that gun chambered?

Word on the street is that anything that goes wrong with a Nagant can be fixed with a hammer, or the butt of another Nagant. They're neat revolvers, and that looks like a pretty one.

I had one about 10 years ago. I reloaded 32/20 brass, using a 30 carbine sizer die, and various 32 seating, flaring, etc. dies. Don't remember which was used for which, but I still have them and all the instructions with them. Worked really well. Believe I was shooting a Cast Lyman 115 grain bullet. Lotta work, but a lotta fun!

Ralph 7 it is chambered for the .32 acp. But you can not hit a barndoor with it. It is very well made. But not accurate.

Factory ammo for the Nagant seems to run like 50 cents a round and surplus ammo is like 30-35 cents a round. Doesn't seem too bad for such a strange cartridge.

I've got to use a come-a-long to pull the trigger on mine! Still like it, it's a very cool revolver...

Got a couple of boxes of ammo in today. Strange looking cases with the brass around the tip of the bullet. Hope to shoot it once the weather warms up.
