That was the text from my youngest, now 18. He just binge-watched Band of Brothers on HBO On Demand.

I broke the fellas out of the safe. They hadn't seen the light in too long.



All are CMP guns. Mine is the Springfield with the lighter colored stock. Its been around - the bolt is courtesy of Pietro Beretta, and the barrel is the sought after Danish VAR, completely wasted on a guy who shoots rocks in the BLM.





These markings mean more to me. The tell-tale dents from a right handed GI jamming his en-bloc clip into the stock prior to loading to make sure the rounds are level:



My oldest boy has the very late production SA in the middle. The young texter owns the H&R at the bottom.

Garand nuts love all the numbers and stampings and will wax eloquently over data sheets and nuts and screws and things. I don't worry about it, but here are the barrels of the SA and the HRA.





These guns just make me feel good.



My daughter didn't want one, so I got her a nice .22 instead. I'm still hoping she'll come around. I love ordering Garands from CMP, and I'm not sure how long the great deal will last.



My boy's duties as a highly-trained sandwich engineer for the Jimmy John's Corporation have him occupied until after dark today, so we are both taking off tomorrow to sling some copper-jacketed lead.

I've got a CMP Garand myself and really enjoy shooting it.
My younger son prefers the M1A. But if we head off to the range its not at all unusual for him to say "let's bring the Garand too".

The weather here is not favorable for rifle shooting but your pics of the Garands makes me wish it was.

My last range trip involved shooting several guns but shooting my Garand was a spiritual experience. It's the lightest kicking .30-06 I have fired. It's very accurate and the two stage trigger works for me. It's a CMP rifle with a Springfield receiver that dates to 1943 and a LMR barrel...The sound of that empty clip pinging brings images of my father's generation in WWII and Korea...The M1 was the first rifle I fired on a military range as a NJROTC Cadet in the 1960's and it set the standard for me. I own an AR-15 but firing it is rather dull to me...I guess it's a function of my age.

I have found the CMP to be dangerous to my wallet.

My son competes in the Garand matches with me. We shoot a couple of late Springfields.

I was lucky enough to get a Service Grade Winchester CMP Garand in 1989. My 21 year old son loves it. I see a road trip to one of the CMP stores in my future..

Love my Garand. Started in the Army with an M-14 then M-16 but not having a magazine hanging out makes a Garand work better for me. 30-06 is a thumper even with FMJ loads.

I can't decide which I prefer shooting the most, M1 rifles or M1 carbines. I fear there is something in the oil stock finish of these rifles that when absorbed through the skin is as addicting as crack.

You may be on to something there, at least as far as I am concerned - particularly about the Carbine.
