Default info on taurus model 455 2" 45acp revolver

I know some of you will say ugh Taurus.

I do however really like large bore snubbies.

Yes I have a few S&Ws. Model 625-10 2" and a model 325sc 2.75" both in 45acp.

I've seen a number of the mod 455 Taurus in 2" but only in all stainless steel construction. I have seen the 4 and 6 1/2" in titanium.

So first I'm wondering if Taurus made the 455 2" in titanium or ultra lite?

By contrast I have seen the model 450 45 colt Taurus in titanium, ultra lite AND stainless steel. So they made the 450 in all 3 frame configurations.

Am really interested in the 455. A near k frame 5 shot in 45acp. Neat idea.

Drawback is can only use Taurus' stellar 5 shot clips and the gun won't fire 45 auto rim. But I'm still interested.

Any info on the model 455 2" 45acp would be appreciated.

Thanks
Dave

Is that the model that had the soft/compressible grip when it was first issued?

I have one of these. It is still NIB, I haven't fired it. It is stainless steel, not light weight. My LGS blew them out when discontinued for under $250.00. I bought it, a total titanium in 44 special, and a stainless lightweight in 44 special.

I have shot the 44 special, and it is a very nice accurate revolver. I carry it in an upside down shoulder holster, and the titanium is so light that you don't even know you have it on. It is very comfortable to carry with that holster.

I am not a big fan of Taurus, but I do like these. The "ribber" grip I would like to replace, but it is fine for shooting. It just doesn't appeal to me aesthetically.

It is nice to have five nice big 44s in a small light package.

I found a lightly used blued steel Taurus DAO .44 Special last year for $400, and grabbed it. Until S&W makes something comparable, folks who want a medium sized/larger caliber belly gun/CCW will make due with offerings from other manufacturers.

Thanks to all who replied. And thanks for the links.

To answer the grip question; I believe this was the model that introduced the "ribber" grips.

I've seen the 44 special version model 445 in titanium, ultra light and steel frame.

As was noted by tomtheturner his 455 is all stainless.

If the empty weight of the stainless 455 is really 23.8 as the link said, I can live with that. I know the titanium versions in 44 spe and 45 colt are under 20oz. and likely closer to 18.5 oz.

But I kind of smitten with the 45acp as an all around round. Will keep looking for a 455 2" in stainless.

Thanks
Dave
