Mystery Revolver
We've played Mystery Airplane and Mystery Rifle, now let's play Mystery Revolver. Who will be first with the correct answer: maker and model?

Yep...patented by Martin and Antonio Pagnon, but with the MAB logo (Martin Antonio Bascaran). The Velomith Exselsior model 1907 (sometimes referred to as the Smith-Hammerless). They shot the 8mm Lebel cartridge...I think.

Yes, you guys are both good and quick. It's a Martin Bascarin Velo-Minthe. I thought it would be a long time before anyone recognised it. It is in 8mm Mle 92 (8mm Lebel to us) caliber, but about half the weight of a Mle 92 revolver; I've fired it with reduced loads and it kicks plenty. Even with the 8mm round, which isn't very powerful, it made a very effecive pocket pistol. It has an internal hammer; that thing at the back that looks like a hammer is the barrel latch. The ejection is strange; you twist that knurled section underneath the muzzle, and the ejector pops up with considerable force, enough to eject even a very sticky case. Sorry now I sold it.

I have exactly the same but in the caliber 6 mm velodog.
The identification is good.
Often is a confusion with MAB:
MAB from France: Manufacture d'Armes de Bayonne since 1920 who never produce revolvers, only pistols.
MAB from Spain: Martin Antonio Bascaran circa 1900
