So this came in the mail today. It's Czech made Alfa Proj in 9mm.

It seems to be a decent fit and finish (certainly a long way from a Smith and Wesson but decent for the price.....about 40% of the cost of a 986 up here).

I see what people mean about the DA trigger pull. Man! it's got to be at least 15 lbs. Why would anyone ship a gun that way? SA is a little heavy as well but a decent break. One of the dealers here sells a $10 spring kit to reduce the trigger pull.I may well look into that although I tend to shoot SA 90% of the time

The only issue so far is that they seem to have torque'd the screws in the side plate and the cylinder crane to about zillion lbs. I'm not sure how I'm going to get into the gun to install the spring kit or get the cylinder off without tearing up the screw heads. (I hate slotted screws!)

I've heard about these on other forums. Supposedly durable and accurate. Are these connected to CZ? With CZ owning Dan Wesson is it a coincidence a Czech revolver pops up or have these been around awhile.

No connection to CZ that i know of. They are a different company located in Brno and their website says they were founded in 1993.

I've seen these guns on the Internet a few times but never saw how good they shoot. Let us know how it does, looks kills a decent gun. Larry

Just a quick update....i finally got this to the range last night and put about 100 rounds of 115gr of Winchester White Box through it. It worked without a hiccup and seemed pretty accurate to me (although, I'm far,far from a great shot).

As I said the DA pull is extremely heavy but there is a $10 spring kit offered that's reputed to greatly improve that. I fired in SA as I normally do bullseye shooting @ 20 yards and while the trigger was noticable heavier than either of my Smith's it broke cleanly and i didn't have any trouble putting rounds in the rings (or at least no more trouble than usual )

It handled the recoil well and i didn't find it snappy at all. I did find the stock rubber grips a little squirmy but Alfa offers several variations of nicely finished wooden stocks as accessories for $50-60 so I think that may be in order.

All in all I was pleasantly surprised for the price I paid and I think the gun represents good value. They list for around 559 CAD up here so about 440 US with case,cleaning tools, 2 moon clips,a de-mooning tool and a factory test target. I was lucky and found one on sale at $420 (330-ish US) and at that price I'd say it's a keeper.

I believe they are sold as "Czech Point" in the USA.
