A 33/40 German Mauser rifle and one of the few in my military collection. Because of its size it was used by German mountain troops. (notice the metal butt plate) A really fun gun to shoot.

I had and foolishly sold a similar rifle. It was later war production, with a Laminated stock, after the war it was reworked in Yugoslavia. It was rebarreled in 308 and the sights adjusted, the trigger guard was replaced with the large winter stamped part. Interestingly, it had the nazi proof, Yugo proof, the US ordnance "Flaming Bob", and an Israeli "Star of David", these were some sort of early foreign aid for 2 countries, then surplussed out. I mentioned that I foolishly sold it. It shot great with ball and sporting ammo, quick handling too, but I got rid of it when I went semi-auto. (Very dumb move!) Ivan

Have a sporterized 98 that was sold by Montgomery Wards back in the 60's.....It is a beautiful rifle, and one of the most accurate 30-06 bolt guns I own.

I love Mausers and I have a Custom Mauser 30-06 and a Custom Mauser 25-06 and they are both great shooters.

I'm working on restoring two Swede m94's. Bubba cut the stock but I have two complete stock sets with hardware.

Nice mauser. I have a few. Probably more '93, '95 & 98's in 7mm than 8mm. I have some '38, 96/38 & 96's too. Traded off all my semi autos due to the new gun laws. Don't want any assault weapons.

Before I purchased my Swede 1907 Carl Gustaf m96 6.5mm mauser I thought my eyes were bad. I scoped my hunting rifles. I sighted in the 29" barrel on the Swede mauser with the original iron sights. She shoots 1 1/2" groups @ 100yds with new s&b ammo. I don't need scopes I'm shooting the wrong rifles.

Beautiful condition carbine,,and a rare one at that.
They only made the 33/40(t) for 3 years IIRC in that form for the German forces.

A small ring 98 with cuts made to the action to further reduce weight.
Most of these are long gone, stripped for their actions and made into light weight sporters. Most that survive show some hard use.

Here's pictures of my two Custom Mauser's as they are me two favorite rifles of all I have.

Custom 30-06 Mauser that I bought with a Leupold 2x7 Vari X III scope for $5o0. It came with the custom muzzle brake and I left it on as it kicks like a 243.

Custom 25-06 Mauser that I bought for $500 with a Leupold 3.5x10 Vary XIII scope that I put on a different rifle. I have replaced the scope with a 3x9 Redfield scope and it shoots great.


I got both rifles from the same seller in the late 80's and it was my best gun deal ever.

As one of the members posted only made for three years and a lot of them were chopped up to make sporters. Unfortunately having said that at this time they are expensive military rifles to aquire. Frank

I build my sporters from parts. A shot out barreled receiver $20.
