Glock 43--single stack nine
Glock has announced their new single stack 9mm GLOCK 43 | G43 | 9mm Pistol | GLOCK USA with dimensions very similar to the Shield. I like my Shield but I like Glocks as well. Definitely on my buy list as soon as the initial feeding frenzy subsides.

The Shield holds more rounds. The Glock 43 holds 6+1. The Shield holds 7+1 or 8+1 depending on the magazine.

I know, I know, but I prefer a 380 in that sized gun. I will be looking out for a used Glock 42

Hmm. I will wait and let the public Beta test it. Seems like anything designed nowadays doesn't have some sort of problem that the engineers missed or, usually, failed to foresee. And that's no slam at any Engineer, engineering is a tricky business even for the best of them. So, I wait and see.
And after Glock debugs it further(They do a good job of Alpha testing their products, Herr Glock demands it, and I agree w/ him.) and G43's are running w/o any problems, then I might get one.
But first on the list? No, I'm afraid not. Of course, YMMV, as always.

As mentioned in the other G43 threads (in the 'Other Brands' sub-forum), I'll pass judgement when I get to actually shoot one.
If it shoots just as smoothly as the G26 and G42, I may need to get one.
Also... The primary reason for getting the Shield was for front pocket carry. This would also be the only reason for getting a G43. If I can't front pocket the G43, I'll pass. I don't need a single-stack for IWB carry.

Where've you been, AmmoDave?
This parody video struck me as most amusing this morning:

Why choose a .380 over a 9mm if the size is the same? I own both and the only reason to carry a .380 is size and weight.

That SIG P938 is beautiful - a word that has never been used to describe any Glock.

I had ordered a Shield, will be picking it up next week, when Glock came out with the 43. I had heard such good things about the Shield and had fired one and liked it. I ordered a holster and some spare magazines as well and hope to have a nice slim carry package when I get it picked up.
With that said, I also have some experience with a Glock 17 and have owned a 26 for about 15 years. Like both of them for their intended purpose.
Ordered a 43 the other day and while it may be a month or so before I get it, I am excited to have both.
After all I have had more than one J Frame and K Frame for years!

Beautiful yes but not my choice for a pocket pistol. Still not comfortable with a cocked & locked pistol in my pocket. Even in the best holster.

Not comfortable with a gun with an engaged manual safety, a heavy-ish CCW trigger, AND a firing pin safety?
Okay. Whatever makes you happy.

I don't remember the last time my pistol purchase was based on looks.
I guess you could say that Glock is the D.U.F.F. (look it up) of firearms.

I dunno... cocked & locked in a pocket holster seems better than Appendix. Pointing down the leg, as opposed to pointing at...

The Ruger LC9S holds 7 plus1 or 9 plus 1. Has a better trigger than both and has a steel sights metal trigger. IMO it is a superior hand gun

Honestly guys, Glock is like the prom date who showed up late... But it's nice to see more single stack 9's out there... I'm a proud owner of a Shield 9 & late model M&P bodyguard 380... Both have been very reliable for me and I wouldn't trade my Shield for anything short of a S&W 686.
I am currently on the market looking around for a BUG or primary carry, just need to decide on a S&W 642 or possibly start building a .380 collection lol..

I agree! The only thing uglier than a Glop are the Shield, M&P, HK P7, etc. Shot a .40 shield yesterday - hurt my hand almost as bad as it hurt my eyes! That loaded chamber indicator is a real sexy...not! I know others have them too. Why did Ruger, S&W, Sig, etc put the LCI on top of the slide and make it soooo big? Why couldn't they put the little tab on the extractor like newer Glops, P232, or little pin like the PPK, etc? Just my opinion.
Looking for a small 9mm to fill a hole - I'll have to check out the 43.

I made the mistake of buying a Glock 42 when they first came out. I wound up getting rid of it after it went back to the factory several times. I just lost confidence in the pistol so if I get the 43 it will be awhile.

Starting to see more used g42 on the market. I like the looks and feel of it, and the g43 should be quite nice as well. But I'll probably just buy a 640 or sp101.

Glock model 42
I have always been a Smith & Wesson man for both on and off duty carry. I have used Glocks before and they function without any problems and the bullets go just about in the same hole. I bought a Glock 42, 380 cal just before Christmas. Good feeling gun, and very accurate for its size. I did my yearly qualification with it, without any problem. Today I put my 760 th round thru it without any problem. I like my Shield but I am going to take a hard look at the 43's when they become available.

Took a look at the 43 specs on Glock's website.
The "Ultra-concealable" single stack 9mm is the same size at my XDs 45ACP. Nice try though.

He's from Catalonia, and speaking spanish of his adventures on the beach.
In Sweden it has another undertext that state that states that
"Sweden is a paradise for beggers".
Didn't belive that text for a second, i have a friend with a Mexican wife who translated it.

The best 9mm single stack out there is the Sig P938 bar none. The best value for money 9mm is the Shield. I really hate the way Glock is trying to create a brand culture like Harley Davidson. Ducati has been doing the same since Audi acquired Ducati. Harleys have been spilling oil and breaking down for years but all HD owners are brainwashed. How can you sell a product that's bigger than the competition and tell everyone it's the best?

That goes same for BMW, Benz, Audi, Porsches. People buy them, people complain, people continue to buy them.
Yea I'm not buying the 938. Too small, requires a safety, which is small and hard to disengage properly (location and size) while under stress. And aside from their older P series they have had a pretty bad QC record across the board.
We can always talk about Glocks problems but they were never as numerous as Sig had from roughly 2005 to 2010 - 12. Between that time they lost a lot of gov sales including the Secret Service, which had frame cracking on their 229s
