My 1911
Don't think I posted this.
Been looking for a quality 1911 for a long time. Wanted something forged, ambi safety, night sights, no rails. Of course I also didn't want to spend a fortune. As much as I would like a DW or similar I just can't justify it financially so this means I'm looking in the used section. Every time I found something it would turn out that I had money involved in something else. Finally a few months ago I ran across this Springfield TRP. Used for $650.
At this point I have 1500 rounds of various ammo through it without a problem and without lube (I did recently clean it). This includes Wolf, Blaser, Eagle, Gold Dot, Golden Sabers and a few more. Preforms amazingly, accurate.
Last month I took it along with a S&W 4566 and a W. German Sig P220 to the range just for fun to see which of the 45s is more accurate, to me. All 3 were close, close enough that in a real life or death situation it wouldn't matter. ....but...as far as groups go........@ 10 yards the Sig P220 was hand down the winner

Champion Lightweight Operator.jpgLoaded Operator.jpg
I already have two Springfields, a Champion Operator Lightweight and a Loaded Operator and *I'd* have jumped on that one!
BTW, one of our sons has the GI, also a fine gun at a great price. Tough to beat 'em, in my opinion.

Great Gun and Great price
Good luck with it. Glad to hear that it will digest anything you feed it.

I've since been debating on a light weight version. SA or possibly Colt. I'm not sure if it's warranted but I've been concerned about the alloy frame and steel mags along with the general wear and tear of an alloy frame 1911

I bought a Colt Commander, alloy frame, about 1958. I was in the Army and could get all the 45 ammo I wanted. About 1500 rounds of GI hardball and that pistol rattled. Been sorta off alloy frames ever since.

I'm guessing the technology has come some way since 58. The rattling in general doesn't bother me as long as it's not premature wear. In fact I prefer loose guns. I'll sacrifice a little accuracy for more reliability
