45 1911 Ammo
This is standard ball ammo , issue for 1911, also for Thompson and M3.
Looks from sealed pouch that it was June 2000 and something. A little
late for VN.

I've had dozens of boxes of 45 ACP ammo in boxes just like that, none ever was in Mylar pouches. I would say somebody placed those pouches in those boxes to protect them. What is in the pouches? That is the correct box for Viet Nam era ammo, but that part of Winchester didn't exist in 2000 AD. The Ammo that comes in boxes like those is all stacked ball up in even rows without cardboard between rounds. There is usually 3 (of 5) rows a flap, 4 rows another flap, and 3 more rows. Last but not least the original ammo will have a headstamp of WCC and 2 digits for the year. Ivan

You need to go here. Surplus .45 Auto Ammo Questions - 1911Forum
WCC is Western Cartridge Co of Olin manufacturing. the 1911 folks say
WCC 6758 was made in 1967.
The WRA is Winchester Repeating Arms. It's probably 1964.
Those fellas really glow on the brass saying it is premium compared to today's brass. Need to swage it once and good to go for reloading.
From what I gathered you have some nice ammo. 2 years ago when found it was bringing $30 a box.

Cracked the packages and voila - Beautiful brass ammo -
Correct period ammo - Apparently they were just preserved in the mylar packing -

Crimped primer pockets. I remember spending hours and hours and hours cutting, chambering, and reaming crimped primer pockets. 9mm, .45, 7.62, .30-06. Tedious work. Finally invested in the primer pocket swaging dies, just about the time that the supply of GI surplus brass dried up.
