Academy and Cowboy guns....Also something else......Take a peek....
Sorry if this aint the right place to ask but,I was wondering if anyone here besides me--owns or wants to own any Heritage Arms S.S.A. handguns? reason Im asking is that Academy has one that is up my alley. Its a "Dont Tread On Me" SAA twenty two cal. Rough Rider. these go for less than two hundred bucks. Anyway, I havent seen what these look like but--certainly will make me go by Academy in the coming days.
Also, the person I was talking to--said that--at least at Academy here--bricks of twenty twos are coming in more often and lasting longer. Today they had fifty boxes of the three thirty threes-for about seventeen bucks per--limit of one box. So,is the two two cal.ammo crunch starting to see an end???????

I have a .22 Rough Rider that I bought over 10 yrs ago, with the .22Long and .22 Mag cylinders. It's had a couple of thousand rounds through it with no problems. It's a good gun for the money.

Is the 22 crunch starting to come to an end? I believe we are at the beginning of the reversal. I was I Columbus,Ohio Cabela's today and they had CCI High Velocity in 100 packs and 300 packs @ $8.49/100 Remington sub-sonic 100 pack the new Norma 22 at $87.99 a brick. Of all those choices I bought I bought ZERO. It won't truly be over until there is so much 22 that there will be "real" specials and sales! I have some left over from the 70's, 80's, 90's and 00's, and in grades from plinkers to Tenex. So I'm good. Ivan

I have the Heritage Rough Rider in .22lr/.22mag combo. Got a broken firing pin right now 'cause my son dry fired it when I let him borrow it a while back. But it's a straight shooter and loads of fun at the range.

Since the .22 can be reloaded now there is no need to hoard ammo any longer
Reloading the .22lr

I got one for black Friday for $100 + tax in 2013. I bought it at Academy. I like the little thing. Shoots good. I'd say they're worth a buy.

I also have a Rough Rider 22/22 mag. It's a fun, inexpensive SA.
They do have a safety, but since its just a occasional plinker, I don't mind.
Mine does have one chamber in the mag cylinder that is slightly under bored, so that shell casing is a little hard to remove.
I can order a new cylinder for a whole $35, but it's never bothered me enough to actually order one.
Oh, I paid $75 for the gun a few years ago.

I first saw these about a year ago and fell in love with them. I would have picked one up last year but--bought my STG and GI fourty five. I probably spent about two hundred too much for the STG--so thats where the first Rough Rider purchase went.
I picked up two--one each last gun show. The first one I traded even-steven with some ammo I brought in --and had enough to where I didnt owe a penny. This last one--I traded off enough ammo to pay all but thirty on. Both are like yours with the mag cylinders.

Truthfully,im not sure now how much I now have? When WM had boxes of those five-zero rd packs of stingers-I went ahead and bought the three I was allowed. I didnt have any real use for them--especially at about seven bucks a pack--so I used them as part of my ammo trade--to get another Rough Rider.Ive seen those CCI hundred rd packs a bit more often--but the big bulk stuff--non existant.
I remember the days with their shelves over-flowing with five hundred rd buckets and other sizes. I used to get those for five bucks.
One thing ive noticed lately--is that the nine MM and the fourty five cals--stay on the shelves so im guessing people are tired of buyinig the mall?

You and wycad are killing me with those prices. The cheapest ive seen so far--is the listed above in post Nr one. My original line of thought on getting these--started when I was wanting to get one for each of my great nephews--having two so far. I was keeping it a secret from my Nephews who these kids belong to--that I was getting one for each--but two shows ago--one nephew bought the one I was going to get--and this last show-nephew nr two--bought the other I was interested in. well,I still have four great nieces..........
