Ruger Speed Six Snubbie Trade In at LGS
Went by my LGS yesterday and as soon as I walked in the door they say
we just got a revolver traded in that they were pretty sure I would want
to take a look at. I say ok, let's see it. They pull out a stainless speed six.
They didn't event have a price tag on it yet.
Now, I need another Ruger six series revolver like I need a hole in the head,
but like many of you on here, I just love these old Ruger revolvers and can't
pass them up. especailly if I can acquire them at what I consider to be a
good price.
I ask how much to take this revolver off your hands.
They reply: to you since your a long time customer, $300
I could not get my wallet out fast enough.
It was manufactured in 1983.

That was a great price
Ruger Security/Service/Speed Six series guns command high prices here in metro Atlanta, even worn blue models.

Great buy. I have a 3" and 4" service six. The last one I need to score is a 2 3/4" speed six to finish up with them. I would have broke a record getting a card out of the wallet. Nice score.

I had a deposit down at the LGS on a brand new, 4" stainless Security Six Target version. I was waiting for my pistol permit to get approved. Then they released the "new" GP-100. I changed my deposit to the GP-100. This was around 85-86. I still have the GP, no regrets. I'd love to have a Speed Six snubby, but it's not a priority to me, just a "like to have" kinda thing. For three bills, this one would be hard to turn down. You done good, kemper. Two thumbs up!

Congratulations on a great acquisition. That's pretty much the one I'm on the watch for. A Speed Six with 3 or 4 inch barrel.
A LGS recently had a really nice blued, 3 inch Speed Six in 9 mm. The hang tag said it was made under a Turkish Contract. I have no idea what that means but the gun sure had my attention until I looked at the asking price...$1100. Next visit to this store, the Speed Six was gone.

Wow, that was a heck of a deal you got.
I purely love carrying my 2 3/4" Speed Six. Numrich has the (drop-in) spur-less hammers, or at least they did last year.

Nice snag, nice price and stainless to boot! Added a blued one to the Ruger herd last year and as much as it pains me to admit I shoot it a lot better than my 19 snubby. Enjoy that one!

Thanks guys, I have been buying as many Ruger and S&W revolvers as I can afford over the last ten years. The S&W revolvers have a better trigger and in general shoot a bit better, but not by much and the old
Ruger revolvers are just built like a tank. Ruger Six series revolvers, especially snub nosed revolvers have gone up drastically in price around
these parts the last few years, like S&W revolvers did before them.

If $300 to $400 is the going rate for Ruger snub nosed Six Series revolvers in your area then you would be wise to buy as many as you come across. You could easily flip them on Gunbroker for a $100 to as much as a $200 profit.

Similar to the S&W 547 the 9mm Speed is highly desirable. It normally sells in the $1000 area so $1100 was not out of line. I scored a stainless Speed 9mm end of last year on GB with box and goodies for $900. IMO the Six Series guns are highly underrated, especially the Speed Six. That was a great find for $300. If that was for sale in my area it would have been $600 all day long. I have not seen a Six Series gun in a local shop in at least 10 years.

A friend of mine was office manager for an armored car company in the 1980's. The Entire company carried Ruger Speed Six revolvers. All of them were 4", except his. He always managed to out qualify his men (and one woman). Their small company didn't have an armorer on staff, so he had 4 extra 4" revolvers in a file drawer (They were part of the original order when they opened for business) When they sold the business to a national company after 26 years, not one of the 4 extras had needed to be issued! The new company was into plastic guns so each of the employees got a present of his revolver from the old boss. Ivan

How do you like those Pachmayr grips? I think that 's what I'd use if I get one and I do want one.
A South African on the Ruger.net board bought a blue one with those grips and really likes it/them.
Does yours shoot to the sights?

I cares! I take every bit as good care of my Rugers as I do my Smiths or any other brand. And I expect them to take care of me.

I would have grabbed it at that price. There is a blued one at my LGS priced at 5 bills. It is still sitting there.
