Someone offered me a Ruger
Lady told me it is a Ruger Sp 101 and is in 327 Federal. Have been looking for a 327 for some odd reason. Oh it is supposed to be about a 4 inches gun. She is asking 550 for it with 5 boxes of factory ammo. Said she has had it for a few years and never shoots it. Is it worth the asking price?? Supposed to get a look at it on Monday. What say you all?? Decent gun? Caliber is one that fascinates me..you can shoot 32 short 32 long 32 H&R and 327 Federal. I have 32 Long brass dies etc

As in most things it depends on how badly you want it. With that out of the way, check out the value of the factory ammo and factor that in a bit. See if the box and such are available and see if she's willing to deal a bit. I wont say the .327 Federal chambering hurts it but it does limit potential buyers and may work in your favor. If I wanted it I would offer $425.00. Good luck!

550 is market price of gun....
L
So that's like 5 free boxes of ammo. 20 rnd or 50 rnd boxes? Regardless, $18 to $27 dollars a box.
I'd do it.... But offer 500 first.

plus it make the sp101 the six shooter it should be. Sounds like a fair price to me.

Ruger announced at the end of March that the SP101 in .327 Mag is coming back, albeit with a longer barrel, but the fact that it is going to be available again should temper any "premium" being attached to the price for "rarity".
But $550, sounds decent with the price of .327 Magnum ammo (Federal American Eagle) running about $22 - 25 a box.

If I could find one I would buy it. I can't find a double action .327 and have been looking a year or more. Even ammo is hard to find for it. Well sooner or later i'll find one, I hope....

I would love to see someone chamber a lever gun in .327. A Rossi model 1892 clone or a Marlin 1894 would be awesome.

Great idea!
You might get near 2,000 fps from a rifle.

Ruger (this year) re-introduced the SP-101 in .327FM. It's now a standard catalog SKU - 5773 ...and an excellent revolver!
New-in-box GB prices are hovering right around $600. They were plentiful when I bought mine a few weeks ago.
Ammo is plentiful and there are deals if you shop online. It's a great caliber.
Let us know how it goes.
PS: This is just my opinion, but I do like the newer run because of these changes:
- more traditional rear sight, instead of the 'uniframe' type. front sight enhanced.
- wooden laminate grip inserts.
- 'read the manual' rollmark is now more discretely tucked under the barrel instead of side.
