Default Sig Sauer P250: the Sigma/SD of the Sig lineup?

I was thinking today how the Sig Sauer P250 is in a way the Sig equivalent of S&W's Sigma / SD handguns.......

Although not necessarily one of my top favorite handguns, my Sig P250 has been slowly but surely working its way up the list. With a modular system which allows you to switch between full size, compact, and sub compact frames.... along with changing the caliber, it has the potential to offer a lot... especially for new shooters. Plus, the price is quite reasonable for a Sig.

I personally have the .40 subcompact with the .45 full size "x-change" kit. The .40 is okay, but it's been gathering dust since I'm quite pleased with the .45. In fact, the .45 has become my trusted nightstand gun after 300 enjoyable and flaw free rounds.

The sad thing is, there's not much love for it out there. There's one issue that people bring up most: the trigger. Much like the complaints about the SD / Sigma. Both of which I owned.... and got rid of. They just didn't do it for me,

The P250 has a double action only trigger. The pull weight isn't much, actually very close to the double action pull of my 681. In fact, the pull length is close to the same as well. Possibly the reason I actually enjoy the trigger is that I've shot so much revolver and it is so close to my 681.

Unlike the striker fired Sigma / SD which people try to compare to a revolver (I find their triggers too spongey) the P250 is hammer fired and has a very revolver like trigger. It's a shame it has such a bad rap.

I know there's the P320 now, but honestly, I don't have much interest. I have a highly tuned M&P that I love, and compared to it, the P320 wasn't much to rave about in my opinion. It felt nice in my hand, just like the P250, but the trigger wasn't all the interweb made it out to be. Nothing to make me slam my money down, for sure.

Is there anyone else here who appreciates the P250? Or am I alone in my enjoyment of the gun?

I have it as a subcompact interchangeable with a seven shot 45 or an eleven shot 40 S&W set up as possibilities. I can also run either with a cut down compact frame and have even more capacity. But it excels as a subcompact EDC esp. in 45 intended for close range, with that doa trigger it is safer to wear close to you holstered and it has tremendous firepower for a gun of its size. As a forty it is pretty snappy but more accurate.

Having fired a p320 I would say it made this gun obsolete in 9mm as a sidearm the moment it hit the shelves. But I won't close carry a striker fired gun, especially in a shoulder holster.

I've been debating the purchase of a p320 or a p250 myself. I love the feel of them both along with the concept of the modularity of them. I've shot the 320 but not the 250. But I plan to. I'm looking at this for my first pistol so I'm very apprehensive as it will wear lots of hats, edc, house gun, range toy and some steel challenge fun. I'm leaning heavily toward the 320 but have been looking argyle 250 more these past couple of weeks. It's that long trigger that gives me pause. Maybe I should just get the 250 and then buy a 320 later!
Now to convince my wife of that logic....

I think the Sig P250s are great. I have three fire control units and the option of seven different configurations in all the calibers from 380 to 45. I tend to like the full size configurations the best. The concept is super simple with no confusion of a safety and the capability for double strike because of the hammer system. The trigger is smooth and vary similar to a DAO revolver only lighter (less than six pounds) and in my experience better than most revolvers even my Performance Center 632. Once you practice with one I think most people should be able to overcome the long trigger pull. I think that this factor allows for additional safety while making the pistol very easy to put into operation.

Default I like the Sig P250, too

got one of the .45 compacts when they first came out. A local dealer had them for $379. The trigger pull is very long, but very smooth. I don't particularly care for this type action, but a lot of people do and the long pull would seem to make it a safer gun.

We have a p250 and a p320 . My wife has a SC 380 version of the p250 and I have a 40cal p320 and like both triggers as I did the breakin on her p250 . The p250 is almost as smooth as my kahrs trigger just a little heavier pull at 6.5lbs . The p320 is the same pull weight and a nice shorter striker trigger with a little staking and enough movement that can be pre-staged . Easy to shoot small groups with but both make great defensive handguns . Almost a flip of the coin as to what works better .

These weren't really on my radar, but your comparison to your 681 trigger has me interested. I didn't love the Sigma or SD because of the trigger, and like you mentioned, never felt that people comparing it to a revolver trigger was accurate. I'd like to get a p250 in my hands. Especially considering the price tag.

I also don't think the P320 trigger lives up to the hype. It's fine, and I would be happy with it, but it jut didn't live up to the hype for me.

Does anyone know where to get additional mags that are cheaper than the mid 30 dollar range I keep seeing?

I know you get what you pay for but for a bit of range fun or a match if like a cheaper option to beat on.

For carry however I'd probably only use original equipment.

MrJT Guess the p320 trigger is more about what you conceder hype !! It meets ever review spot on to me . I shoot a lot of different trigger types from 2lb sa to DA in revolvers of 9lbs and have carried a long da type kahr for 10 years . I think the sig p320 trigger is a very good trigger that can be staged with practice and gives a clean break with a short reset. Some people just expect it to be something other than it is . Want a bad striker trigger M&P come to mind . The stock p320 will shoot circles around even the m&p pro line . We have 3 - m&ps , all with some apex parts .

You can also make the sigma trigger better thanks to apex and some polishing parts . Better than a stock glock anyhow . I set on up for a daughter and it has a good 5.7 lb pull that's controllable and atleast as good as a stock m&p .

This the key for me, My P250 shoots like a 10 shot .45acp revolver, If you are used to shooting double action revolvers, this is the automatic for you.

I like to carry the sub compact .45, with a full size magazine for a reload.

I'm a former P250 owner. I owned 2 fire control units. I had three sub-compact x-change kits in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP. I had compact frames in 9mm and .45 ACP. The P250 has the absolute best DAO trigger on a semi-auto handgun period. The trigger doesn't stack through the pull. I was able to stage the trigger right to the break. The modular system made cleaning and maintenance easy. The only reason I sold it all was to pay bills during a bout of unemployment.

Why haven't I bought it again? I just want to try something different.

This reminds me that I have some BNIB P250 mags and two fire control rebuild kits to sell...

JaPes If you like the p250 trigger you would love a kahr trigger . I did the breakin on my wifes p250. Its good , better than most revolvers as there is no stacking but not in the same level as a kahr trigger and no where near is light to pull. My 3 run between 5lb and 5lb 4oz all well broke in but a sig double stack is nice to have with 9mm and 40 but 9 or 10 rounds in the 45 ?? Not so great .

That alone will keep me from owning a 45acp version of a sig250 or 320 but that's ok as underwood makes some serious 40sw ammo .

I really like the SIG 320. I got it in fullsize medium frame 40 cal. It is hard to find a better built or more reliable pistol than the 320.
The 250 320 comparison is simple- both guns are built with identical Sig quality n reliability. I cannot even tell the difference between the two guns looking at them. The key determine factor is if you are hesitant carrying a striker fired handgun with no external safety; the P250 heavier DAO hammer is the ticket. If you want a striker fire pistol better than Glocks and are fine with lighter trigger v safety trade offs- the P320 is the choice.
