.38 S&W Webley & Scott Mark III
I just got this break top. Circa 1937. Fun to shoot. About the size of a K-frame with a 4" barrel. Built like a little tank. The target is at 10yds. Remington 146gr match ammo .357 dia. I tried my reloads using .361 dia. lead bullets. Very unsatisfactory results. I'm going to try .359 & .358 dia.

I have the Enfield no2 mk1 ripoff of the Webley, a very fun gun. Factory .38SW/.380 British is extremely light, ~600fps over the chrono with win or rem 145-146gr rnd ammo.

The MkIII Webley is a very nice pistol.
Looks like a very nice example. Congrats.
They are a joy to shoot.
The MkIII was the handgun first submitted to the Small Arms Committee in the early 1920's in Britain as a possible replacement for the heavy Webley MkVI .455 revolver.
Though very well liked, it was eventually passed over for Webleys latest design at the time, the MkIV .38.
The Brits then took Webley's design and cooked up their own handgun,,the Enfield No2MkI, and mfg'rd it themselves much to Webley's dismay.
Lawsuits followed but the Enfield 38 revolver became the standard issue in the 1930's.

These are a hoot. I also have the Enfield (1943) that I bagged for a C note at a show. The 158 grain 358s shoot fine in mine but the190 grain slugs I tried tumbled.

I was warned off of using the 200gr in the Webley Mark III. I found out for myself that the suggested .361 is not the way to go for my pistol.
Hoot is the right word. A really fun shooter.

Hi M1A great to hear your comments. I have just purchased 1 as well but need to wait for permit to purchase etc. hopefully pick it up in a month or so. Interesting you say the .361" proj didn't work too well as all reference says that is what they are supposed to use ? I guess you cant tell until you try - have you slugged the barrel for diameter by chance ?

I picked up these two a little over a year ago.
The first is a W&S No.4 Mk 2 in .38/200 "War Finish"
It has a broken finger on the extractor star but still works just fine. (I have found out that replacing this part isn't as easy as it could be. Lot of hand fitting and Enfield parts don't even come close....)
The other is a Mk VI that has been whizzed.(at both ends).I have since found a replacement barrel, but the snubbie is strangely appealing.....
I only paid $100.00 for the pair, so I'm not really out anything....

No. I did it the hard way. Trial and error. All based on net. info. I've settled on 148gr Missouri Bullet Match SWC at .358.
I have a Webley Mark III commercial not military. Remington and Privi Partisan are good factory ammo for MY pistol. Remington is .357 and Privi is .358.
.361 were way high and right at 50'. Make sure what Mark you have and check the stampings.
