Default Dads new 20g

Thinking of my old man on Father's Day, he's been gone for 35yr.
He was a great bird hunter and Trap shooter. When I was about
15, back in the day when you could mail order a gun from Sears.
They had Sears 20g pump on sale for 59.95. Dad decided he wanted to try a 20g for bird hunting. So he ordered one up. It
so happened me and buddy were home when mailman delivered
the gun. I opened her up, decided to test it for dad. We rode to
River on our bikes. Started shooting lumps of coal as "birds" gun
shot nice. About that time one of the town's big wheels kid came
with his buddy and a Win m-12 Duck gun. It was kicking the snot
out of them, not hitting coal lumps. He ask to try the 20g, he hit
a few lumps. Trade was made on the spot. My buddy wimped out
and went home to prepare for my funeral. I have to leave out a
portion of this story because it's not family friendly. When I finally got the old man calmed down he had the nerve to claim
the M-12 was his. About 4 yrs later I bought him O/U Browning
for Fathers Day, he still wouldn't give me the m-12.

What a story! If you had traded away my new gun...well, let's just say you'd still be grounded (only my wife would keep you from being in the ground). I suspect the Winchester M12 sold new for about 2/3rds the price of that 20ga. Yeah, I'd have claimed it as well.

Thanks for the story.
