I'd say that's the kind of deal that if both sides were happy about would be just fine all around.

If I had one and wanted the other, I would do it.

Trade
I recently sold a " Lot " of guns for a family. They belonged to
father, a WW2 vet, who had passed away. They took guns to
One of the big box stores that buys used guns. There was 14
guns. Offer was $1150. The boy had herd dad say Luger was
worth $1000. It was a Black Widow, with holster and extra mag
and tool. They called me to sell them. The only gun they priced
was the Luger at $1000. A WW2 vet that I know wanted the Luger. Because of the favors he had done for me over the years
I sold it to him for $1000, knowing it was worth more. He was
worried if he shot it the value would decline. With out telling me
he took gun to same store that original owners went to. They
gave him $1000 for it! Does that tell you what a good Luger is
going for. Also don't take your guns to the Big Box stores, you
will be raped. I took widow over $6000 for her guns, the one
I wanted she insisted I take for selling them for her, with pie
thrown in as kicker.

An easy method of seeing what the top price for something is would be to just hop on gunbroker and do an advanced search. Select completed auctions. Look through the guns that have actually sold that are comparable to whatever you want to price.
It's at least useful for a guideline as to current value. A lot better then the blue book to be certain.

Been there, Done that... The Lugers that generally fit my description seem to be around $1,000 max(as the condition goes up, the price really goes up..) while the Medalist with all the trimmings seem to sell for around $1,100 - 1,200.
I realize that there is probably more demand for Lugers than there is for Medalists, so finding a trade where both parties will be happy may take longer.
