Default Charter arms 45acp pitbull anyone?

I really like 45acp snub nose revolvers. Not that many around so I was looking at the Charter Arms 45acp pitbull.

Anybody out there have one yet? Price seems reasonable but don't know about overall quality. I wouldn't expect anywhere near S &W quality.

The rimless extraction system is a nice idea although been done before. It probably doesn't fire 45 auto rim.

That's the one thing that's held me back from the Taurus model 455 in 45acp.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks
Dave

I worked for CA around 76. and IMO QC was good, They had inspectors checking all the time from frame machining to finished, Not sure about now! But if I can get my fathers CA Snub .38 I wlll still use it, I will also buy a snub .38/.357 if I find one. Will it be S&W quality probly not but it should be a great shooter

I've been looking for the Pitbull in .40, but have yet to see one in-person.

I bet the .45 version is a handful.

U bought the 9mm pitbull at a gun show just before Christmas last year. I went to the range loaded 6 in & the cylinder would not close. Sent it back & when it came back went to the range & it shot fine for a few rounds then it developed the condition when I cocked the hammer in SA mode the hammer would stick all the way back to the rear of the frame then snap forward on its own. This time they replaced it with a new gun. This one would not stay cocked in SA mode it goes back & now it's finally right. In all fairness I must say CA customer service was very helpful in trying to get the gun right. The gun is fun to shoot & accurate (as far as I can tell) the extraction system works nicely but lockup is not as tight as S&W revolvers but must be adequate judging by the way it shoots. The sights are pretty nice for being a groove sight with the groove in the top of the frame being a deep square sight picture. They have a lifetime warranty so if I have any more problems it is covered.

It took me two years of waiting and a call to Nick Ecker of Charter Arms to get a 9mm Pit Bull revolver sent to my dealer.

And it's delivery was a "shop like a woman" day as I dearly hate, and rarely pay "retail price" for a gun.

I bought it for three reasons; some days you just don't feel like picking up brass, they do not require moonclips, and, there may be a day in the future when age & medical issues make racking slides no longer a fun pastime.

Having owned 3 other .45 ACP revolvers (two S&W and one Colt). I liked the concept, but hated fooling with moonclips. They are great for competition speed loads, but are a pain in the posterior to tote on your person.

I too await the production of Charter Arms .45 ACP.
