Am considering one of these and was wondering if any members has one or would care to comment on the pistols overall quality and performance. Suppose to have a decent trigger according to an article I read. Was interested in the 22 mag. caliber. Often do woods hikes and this looks like a good pocket pistol to carry in a jacket or holster. Appreciate any views on this model.

Trigger is different on the .22 LCR's from other caliber models. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 12+ lbs if recall correctly.

I just shot my brand new LCR 22 mag got it because I heard how good the trigger was on the LCR 38 ( and really got it cheap ) the worst trigger I have ever shot my finger was sore, the accuracy was good ( has a crimson trace laser ) just saying, other then that its typically Ruger

A friend has the .22, others are correct, very heavy trigger pull.
I don't know about other calibers, but I wouldn't purchase a .22 myself.

Btw, I love Rugers, and either own or have owned more of them than any other brand of firearm.

I like Ruger revolvers a lot. I own an SP101 and a couple of Super Black Hawks. My SP101 had a heavier trigger pull than I liked, ordered a couple of springs online. All fixed up. IMHO they are as good as the new Smith's and maybe better in some regard.

Well thanks for the replies. Disappointed to hear the trigger on the rimfires is that heavy. Otherwise does not sound like a bad choice.

LCRX

I have the LCR-X and love it. It replaced (sacrilege I know) a S&W 37 no dash. I can see the white ramp sight much easier and can get 5 rounds on a plain old paper dinner plate at the range - the 37 always shot low for me or anyone that used it.

No rust or worry about the gun, small lube here and there and you are good to go.

Hardest thing to get used to was pushing in to release the cylinder as I have several Smiths.

I highly recommend a Remora pocket holster - carries my LCR-X snug as a bug and easy to deploy out of dockers, jeans, shorts etc.

Buy a .38 load some shot shells and you got a good gun for snakes, small critters and such.

Trigger is great in DA and I like the option of a hammer and single action.

The triggers are heaver on the rim fire guns to insure proper ignition but certainly not terrible. We have sold them since they first came out a few years ago and I have returned only one due to an internal part breakage. I run several for range rental guns and have sold a ton of them. The 3 inch model .38 with the longer grip is really excellent. The first one we got I ran a box of rounds through and was really impressed. Good luck.

Intend to check one out regardless. May not find trigger too bad. This one looks ideal for pocket carry and have two 22 mag rifles I enjoy for varmint hunting. Thanks for input.

Never shot the .22 but the .38 special is a great little shooter. Bought one for the wife a few years back as her primary EDC and right out of the box it was a great shooter. Trigger pull is manageable and it's very accurate. She prefers it over her 60-9 Lady Smith for EDC. Not going to win any "pretty" contests but it's fine for the job it was designed for.

Ruger LCR revolver

I have the .38 & .22.The .38 is 3/4 years old and has a better trigger then any of my Smith snubs (6) that date from the 70's to a few years ago.My wife will only shoot the LCR.I picked up a used anib .22 at LGS for $300. and have about 100 Yellow Jackets & Vipers through it and the accuracy is good.Trigger is heavier then the .38 but not to bad.

I purchased one as soon as they came out carry it often, I used +P for carry.

I bought a 9mm to replace my 38-0 that I have carried everyday since April 2004. I was afraid of breaking my Airweight, so I started to look at other options. The lock on the new S&W's killed that possibility so I began researching the LCR. Everything I have read about the LCR has been majority positive. My nephew was having a '" No Sales Tax " day at his shop, so I drove down (about 65 miles 1-way) with the intention of buying a .357 LCR.
He had pulled it off and started the paperwork when I told him I was enroute. While driving down I started thinking about the 9mm LCR I had handled the previous weekend. When I got there he pulled both out so I could do a side by side comparison. Both seemed the same weight and had great triggers, I decided I liked them both but could only swing one at the time. So I borrowed a quarter and gave it a flip, the 9mm won. I pick it up on the 18th after it cools off ..... ;o)

Have the .38 +P version. Like it very much. As said above, kinda like the Glock version of snub nose revolvers. Very light weight and tough. I use the Boot Grip on mine. Here is mine with another favorite snub light weight- Colt Cobra....Old School with New School.

I have the 22mag and find the trigger smooth and easy to place my shots. This revolver is tough as nails

I bought one in .22 lr for my mom a few years back. While dry firing it fast it would sometimes lock up. I sent it back and Ruger replaced the hand, pawl and some other parts. Seemed to work just fine after that. Gave it to mom with some misgivings. Will NEVER buy another plastic revolver.
If you are looking for something lightweight, I suggest the airweight J frames for two reasons. #1 they are decades old technology that works and #2 they are every bit as light if not more so than the new plastic revolvers. To tell the truth, I really can't see why Smith even makes these. I can see Ruger as they don't have a light weight gun in the round up, but Smith already has the beas with the J frames.
