Browning A500 remington BDL 7mm mag, 1100 20 ga and nylon 66
Need a heads up on a Browning A500. Daughter is getting rid of her dad's guns and one is a like new Browning A500. She (and I ) have no idea as to value and I know noting about this gun as far as is it any good, etc. ANyone know about it??
Also she has an older Remington BDL in 7mm mag with some use and a little surface rust on the barrel. I know he dad and am almost certain that the gun has seen less than two boxes of shells through it.Has a bushnell scope on it that is missing a turret cap. What do y'all think it's worth? I have seen both guns and both are solid but nothing that really floats my boat.
I told her to ask 6 for the browning and take anything offered offered over 4. Ditto on the Remington. Am I off on either of these two estimates?? Also has a good solid 1100 in 20 ga 3" and a nylon 66 with brown stock. Told her I thought she ought ot get at least $200 for the Remington-ask $400 and take anything ove $200. Told her that I thought the Nylon 66 was worth no more than $150 and then to a collector. Again I have seen all of these and they appear to be good shooters with character.
Something neat about standing in the courthouse parking lot at high noon inspecting long guns out of someones trunk.
On second thought maybe I'll offer her $600 for the lot

A bit of info about the A-500. Best I remember it was Browning's replacement for the Auto-5, IMHO one of the finest Auto Loading shotguns ever produced bar NONE!!
The Auto-5 that is!!!!!

The 1100 might fetch $600 or more. Look at new prices for wood stocked 1100's. Yikes!
The 66 might go $250
Assuming excellent or very good condition.

The Nylon 66 in clean "shooter" condition would go for at least $250 here in SW Fla.

Would ask at least $475 or a bit more for the 1100 20 gauge. Maybe $500 for the 700BDL. As stated above these models new today command a high retail. Still make the 1100 in a a couple variations and the prices are over $1000. Try to sell privately for better price. Good ole walnut and decent bluing should be worth more than tupperware today.

The Browning A500 came in 2 versions, the A500R (recoil operated) and A500G (gas operated).
The R is more traditional Browning, but the G was a nicer shooter. They don't have the best reputation for reliability, so $400-$500 would be a good deal.

Yep. The nice thing about the 3" 1100 is you can buy a 2 3/4" barrel and shoot standard field loads. I had one and sold it before I knew that! Paying $6 a box for high brass just to make it work didn't appeal to me at the time. Now low brass junk costs that.

IF YOU COULD LIVE WITH YOURSELF,
600$ for the lot would be a steal IMO. I'd sell all but the 1100 & maybe the 66 for at least the 600$. A slug bbl for the 1100 & you would have a great combo shotgun for just about anything. I paid 135$ for a used 1100 slug bbl a couple of years ago.

No I was just getting san idea as to whether my price estimates were close. She is a court clerk and there are lots of bailiffs and deputies who will probably buy them. I just wanted her to not get screwed and gave her my best guess as to prices.

Now this is just me, But I'd find out how much money she needed, give it to her, and put the guns in the safe. When the grandkids (If they're not already here, they eventually will be ), get old enough, they can have something of their grandfather, regardless of the present family situation, whatever it might be. (I beat around the bush on that one!!!)

The 1100 is probably at least 550-600 dollar gun here, maybe more. I've seen a couple of older BDL 700's in almost pristine shape go for 400 bucks out the door, retail, with scope.
It amazes me how cheap quality rifles are here.

Amazes me too. Much to my dislike. Older quality guns with walnut and nice blue jobs should go for a premium. Sometimes can get true value if placed on consignment but often have to list on Gunbroker to get what they're really worth. Just look what a new BDL Rem 700 or an 1100 goes for today. From what I have read the quality was better years back.

I am not a big fan of either the 20 gauge or semi-auto shotguns but I would buy every functioning $200 1100 I was offered.

Plus 1...as to the A-500...they were made for Browning by Beretta. Not a bad gun, but "best" automatic ever made....not really. It's claim to fame was that it was one of the first auto shotguns to reliably shoot 2 3/4" and 3" shells in the same gun without changing anything but the ammo. You might find that it will take a drop below $400 to move that Browning. 1100's are hard to find...20ga 1100's are about impossible. That Nylon 66 might even fetch $300 plus.
A magnum bolt face 700 with rust might also drop below $400. A Bushnell scope is not worth the time it takes to get it off the rifle and drop it in the nearest trash can...junk with a capital J!!!!!!! Might hold zero on a 22lr...less than zero chance on a 7mm mag.

Don't be too quick to dismiss the Bushnell. While I quickly returned the last one I bought, the 1980's product was much better. I have one on a rifle that has beat around in a truck and canoe for close to 30 years now without changing zero.

Saw her in Court yesterday and was going to buy the 1100. She told me with a big smile that one of the bailiffs paid her $700 for the lot She and I are close so I'm not upset as I had not expressed any interest the other day. But she did tell me that she would come to me first if her son wanted to unload any of her dad's hand guns which is a pretty good probability as he lives in Seattle and is a personal trainer . Good thing about that is her dad was a long time judge and had accumulated a lot of nice guns over his time on the bench including a couple of Pythons And yes-I WILL try to jug her on the pythons

Facepalm!!! Those 7 mags can bring $600 -$800 depending on when it was made and condition. Tell that bailiff you won't be representing him if he gets charged for stealing in the future....
