Vatican City revolver?
This is one that I've never been able to gather any info about.
It might be Belgian .But,here's the interesting part:
The topstrap is marked w/ "Saint Peter's Keys" which is the Vatican's logo. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? Vatican City does have their own police force.

Wow! That is fascinating. I suspect it belonged to the Swiss Guard plain clothes force. I will follow this thread. Very interesting.

I just asked my wife if she knew it the Vatican has a police force. Said yes because it is a sovereign entity in itself. I really trust her 'cause she knows everything.

It isn't marked for caliber. But,it was sold to me as being in 8mm. The Vatican's PD is called the "Corpo de la Gendarmarie" or something like that. Due to all the thieves etc. that prey on the tourists, the crime rate is actually pretty high.....
Best,
Charles
Nice to be your 1st post!!

The Vatican has more than a police force. It has its own army, as it has throughout most of its history. The size of the army has waxed and waned.
That is as far as I can comment for fear of getting my knuckles rapped, but google can be your friend.

Yes, the Vatican is a country. It was a city-state in Italy until a legal agreement was reached separating it from Italy.
Although they used the Italian Lira up to the Euro, they have had a unique coinage (as has San Marino), and still do.
I would not be surprised that there was a special marking for their firearms

It looks like a "Maxim" revolver made at Theate Freres, Belgium. If you take the grips off, there should be a "TF" in a rectangle somewhere on the grip frame. Same 8mm revolver ammo as the French Ordnance 1892 revolver.

Guns of the Swiss Guard: Happy Hole-y Week - Guns.com
My guess is that it's not Vatican. The crown for the Pope has three Crowns in it, I believe to represent the Trinity.
It might not be that uncommon of an association in Europe--''keys to the city''. Or used as a reference to a gated city where it was mfg.

Doubtful it's a Vatican gun (but not impossible). As others have stated, a Google search reveals this stamp, or very similar ones, associated with various guns of Belgian, not papal, origin.

They also have plain clothes police as I actually talked to one when I was there several years ago. Did not see or ask about his weapon. Do not know if he was armed or not.
