New Gun Build for Graduation Presents
We have two young men about to graduate Marine boot camp in Dec. I'm giving them each a customized 45acp for graduation presents. Here are the twins for the twins, off to engraving and new grips next.

Make sure to put an extra magazine in the box of the kid you like best...
Great graduation gifts, and good on both your young men for seeing it through.

Terrific thing to do!
Do you know whether the MC will let them carry these when deployed?
The reason I ask is:
One of our sons is professional military and I purchased a Springfield Loaded Operator for him on his first deployment to Iraq. He is USAF. The USAF would not let him take it. Apparently guns are dangerous in a war zone . . .
This was so different from what it was for us during Vietnam when many guys brought their own guns from home.
Kudos to your sons, and to you for your support of them.

Good for you. I am sure they will appreciate them. Who is doing the engraving (what will be engraved) and what kind of new grips are you getting for them?
PS-Please post pictures here when you complete them!

Congratulate them for me when they graduate. Very good of you to gift them with those pistols.

That's a great gift, I'm sure they'll love them. My son is a USAF TACP, I'm having a Colt Commander customized and engraved for him as a congratulatory gift for earning his way into special operations. He transfers to his new unit next month, hopefully his gun will be ready around the same time.
What kind of work have you had done to the pistols? What are you having engraved on them?

There are no personally owned weapons allowed, you get what they give you. Heck, if you could take your own guns my kid would be raiding my safe every time he deployed to A-stan.

Excellent! When my son was discharged from the Marines in 2006, I gave him a police trade in Beretta. But he said, "Dad, I'd rather have the S&W." So I gave him my 3913. Pictured here with my 39-2.
Those are fine gifts for your sons!

They're Sig 1911, 45s, so already tuned and groomed, but I'm replacing the grips with rosewood with the EGA logo. Engraving the slide with their Plt., Co. and date of graduation in a ribbon. The EGA logo on one side of slide and "Devil Dog" on the other. I'll post pictures when done. I've drawn all the artwork to be engraved.

You'll notice the cast on one of my sons left foot, he broke his foot during the Crucible and had to march the last 4 miles with it broken, he didn't say anything for fear of being put back. The island Company Commander asked him about it afterwards and called him a "bad ***" for being able to do that, needless to say, it made his day. They are my heroes, Semper Fi!

Great job dad and young Marines! My SIL comes home from Afghanistan in February and they are trying get the minimum of 25 guys to order custom Sig 1911 Scorpion models with their para-rescue logo and motto on them. He is an AC flying the 60 for the rescue jumpers. Since they are already getting a gun I decided his welcome home gift is a new Randall 15 Airman knife to stick away or stick in his flight suit. I have given all three of my pilot kids Benchmade autos to clip in the pockets but the Randall will be a fun surprise to give him.

What very fine looking young men! I can imagine your love & pride for them. Reminds me of seeing my son for the first time in dress uniform after training. Left a typical useless surf bum, came back to me only months later standing proud (like your boys) & said, "How are you, Sir?"

I understand your feelings. My dad was a 20 year Marine
and he was my Hero as well.
Tell your boys how much they are appreciated by us here
and we wish them the Best.

We have a Sergeant!
Just a quick update, our sons love the Marine Corps and one of them has made Sergeant, the other one is right behind him but doesn't hit the books as hard.
So proud of these young men and who've they've become.
