Default Harrington & Richardson first model first variation

I buy and sell a lot of these things as they can frequently be had for not a lot of money and well, I like the damned things. But rarely do I run into any that are any different than the millions of others that were produced. This one however is different. This is a first model, first variation H&R top break. The first one they made only between 1885 and 1886. It had exactly the same extractor mechanism as some of the large frame S&W topbreaks and the Baby Russian which S&W had patented. Therefore H&R had to cease producing these as it was a patent infringement and they then came out with a model that had no automatic ejector but an ejector rod you would push on manually to eject the empty shells.

Interesting to see the details on this one...tiny grip frame and "belt and suspenders" for maintaining ejector alignment. Thanks for posting.
