Default Just when you think...no more guns, a10/22 rears its head

At the local big gun store today getting supplies and some ammo( CCI .22 shorts!) I spied 3 Mannlicher stocked 10/22s.
One was a nice stainless with good walnut and fine checkering. Another was blue with basket weave checkering, and the 3rd was a 50th anniversary blued with some type of exotic wood unknown to me.
I really had to restrain myself as I've always wanted a 10/22 and also a Mannlicher stocked rifle.
I may end up going back if some discretionary funds appear.
Then I'd have to decide which one. Kinda like the wood on the stainless.
HELP ME!!

An Army vet firefighter NRA member should probably treat himself to a nice 10/22.
Sorry, I was no help, was I?

I have a 50th anniversary 10/22 but in stainless. I give it a wipe down whenever I clean it, but it doesn't show oil or fingerprints very much at all. Can't comment on the long term durability of course, but I don't anticipate any problems. I think personally I would go with the wood and stainless as long as you like the sights. I prefer the aperture rear sight on the 50th, but I think a few models have that and maybe you don't care.

And yeah, I've thought about buying a Mannlicher stock for it, it's makes it look like a mini Enfield to me.

I can't remember exactly, but they were about all the same for the Mannlicher stocked ones. Maybe $10 or $20 max, and I can't recall which was more. Probably the 50th anniversary.
I was trying not to look TOO closely!

Hey Jessie I know Ruger made the 10/22 with a Mannlicher stock from 1966-69 I read. Just wondering if the blued one you spied may have been from that era. Heard they also made the 44 mag with a full length stock way back. Worth good bucks if ya got one today.

Ruger made a Mannlicher stocked 10/22 for WalMart some years ago.
It had a camo laminated stock and a stainless barrel.
I missed them at WalMart and picked one up later.
Just had it out early in the fall. Added a new scope and fired a
box or two of Thunderbolts through it. Fun time.

These appeared to be brand new, all 3, plus they were in the new guns section.
When did Ruger come out with the 10/22? 64'-65'?

You know you're going to get it. Why fight it. I vote for the stainless.

I bought a used on in the 70's, accurate, shouldn't have but sold it.

This past spring I bought one for my grandson for his HS graduation present. Gave it to him, then I got to thinking and remembering. I went back and bought one at Dicks who's price was way best. It was the anniversary model. Put a scope on it last week but have not yet zeroed it. I feel like a kid again. Well sort of, you know the artho in the knees and it's hard to bend over to pick up a head shot quail.

Just kidding on the last one.
