Actually, I love mine. Heavy enough to take down small trees and still lop the head off of a small mammal.

That one looks to be about as authentic as they come. You can research the markings on it and see about it.

This site will tell you a little more about that great blade you just obtained.

I have no personal knowledge of the true and original Kukris.

For the last few years I have owned and USED a Ka-Bar manufactured Kukri.

As mentioned above a kukri does a fine job of chopping brush and small trees.
I think it is the forward weight that makes it much more efficient than the more common machete.

I suggest keeping yours as a collector item.
If needed; buy a Ka-Bar for chopping.

May be the angle but the blade looks like a full flat grind which isn't what you normally see on a kukhri.

I'm not sure what a full flat grind is but the spine of the blade is a lot thicker 3/16-1/4" as a rough guestimate.

From Nepal, evidently some really tough people there. The Gurkas are fierce warriors who fought in some British regiments. Don't forget the Sherpas, who carry all the stuff that the mountain climbers need to reach the top on Everest, they don't even need oxygen bottles but carry the bottles for the climbers who do. Pretty tough people.

Recently a Gurka, fought off a Taliban attack, with the tripod from his machine gun, evidently he didn't have his knife.

This blade is designed for throat cutting from behind your victim or lopping off your victim's head from the side or front.
The originals were sharpen on a rock/stone.

Well, the endcaps are missing on all three, some of the inlays are missing, I don't see any marks on the blade, what exactly would you like to know?

Approximate age (purely a guess based on handle material and sheath construction) would be post WW2. It is not of the style of a Regimental Kukhri, The missing end caps are probably missing because they were ornate or had semi-precious stones in them, so the kukhri itself was either a souvenir for the tourist market or a presentation model. Unfortunately, you'll never know because their missing. The inlays in the scabbard were either ivory or mother of pearl, the missing one probably having a unique feature (eg; semi-precious stone, engraving, gold or silver embellishments).

That's the best I can do without actually holding it.

I lived in Nepal and bought a few like that, about $2.00 each. Soft steel, so easy to sharpen.

One thing to be careful about, when chopping, the blade can come off and go flying as the attachment to the handle is not always secure.

In Nepal, just about every man, woman, and child over the age of 5 is wearing one.

I have one made from Russian steel. I got into a fight in eastern Turkey and used it for defense. I caught the tango on the head and chipped the blade a couple of times.

The wood sheath is covered with water buffalo hide.

Don't feel bad, I bought mine in the early 1970s. Twenty bucks ain't bad.

Be careful of that handle letting the blade loose.
