Default Grand Power K100 Mk7 Range Report

At long last, I got out to the range with this pistol. Major features are:-

  1. Polymer frame
  2. Made in Slovakia
  3. DA/SA, but can be cocked and locked like a CZ-75
  4. 4.25" rotating barrel
  5. Choice of four backstraps
  6. 2x15 round mags
  7. Weighs a little under 32 oz.
Grip is slim and trigger reach is just right for me. The DA pull is exceptionally smooth, even better than my 5906 TSW.

The SA pull is exceptional, being short and crisp with minimal reset. It tempts you into shooting quickly.

Accuracy is great as far as I can tell shooting standing with no rest. At 5 yards the first five rounds went into a ragged hole elongated slightly left to right. Should have got a picture of that group. I'm no bullseye shooter, but I could get three of five into a three inch dot at 15 yards with this gun, no problem. Good enough for social work, I reckon.

Another feature that tempts you to shoot fast is the very tame recoil, even with 124 gr JHP ammo. The rotary barrel design must be helping in some way, I'm sure.

I'm VERY pleased with this purchase. My biggest issue is that my girlfriend finds this gun easy to shoot and I cannot get another at the "I stole it" price I paid for this one.

Glad to hear a good report about it.
One question. What would you compare it to, when shooting?

Looks nice. It seems to have many CZ-75/Witness features, the stippling like the XD series, and a name similar to the Hi-Power ("grande puissance"). Wonder what happened with the Mk 1 - 6? Enjoy!

Very interesting question. This pistol mixes so many old (hammer fired, DA/SA) and new (polymer frame, rotating barrel) features it is hard to think of a mainstream, duty sized pistol to compare.

I know for sure that it has the best DA trigger of any DA/SA pistol I have tried, better even than the CZ SP-01 Phantom and the 5906 TSW. The SA trigger is excellent, again, better than any other DA/SA pistol I've tried. It's probably as good as most out-of-the-box 1911s, and the short reset will have the reset riding community drooling.

Again, the lack of perceived recoil is almost spooky. I have fired a Steyr M9 which has the bore axis around your ankles, and I think the K100 may have even LESS recoil.
