My Sister Got a Glock
But ya know, I'm kinda glad that she took her time and found a gun that suited her needs.
She got a carry permit and went looking for a gun to go with it.
She liked the Glock 42 and now it's her everyday carry gun.
It's had lotsa range time with her and she likes to shoot it.
She tried holster carry but didn't find that comfortable.
It rides in a concealed carry purse.
I'm not a fan of off body carry and the next time we visit, I might just havta design a holster that may work for her.

Good for her. I am a closet Glock admirer but it matters not what name is on the slide. Her desire to carry does.

Assume your sister is in WV also, and it's a good thing about being that far north in that you get to wear cover garments for more of the year. I have watched the travails of a slim woman on this forum search for a CC holster. That's one benefit I have with a few extra pounds. I carry IWB comfortably, and OWB with cover. But cover months down here in SC are few.
Your a good brother to want to be so helpful. Good luck.

Congratulations to your sis. I owned and carried and enjoyed many a happy afternoon at the range with 4 Glocks for 11 years. A 9mm, and .40, and 2 .45. I found them to be excellent carry guns. Over 22K round through the four of them and never a problem. They ain't pretty but they are dependable and accurate out of the box.
I agree with you Snubby about the off body carry. I'm sure you can come up with something for her that will be comfortable and discrete and might even dress that ugly pistol up some too while yer at it.

Glocks are excellent defense weapons. Good for her. Agreed on the risks of off-body carry, though, and hopefully at minimum the purse she's using has a dedicated interior holster that properly covers and secures the trigger.
If she's new to firearms and carry, she's lucky she has a sibling like you to walk her through the finer points.

Actually she lives about 90 miles away in Northern Va.
We've talked about concealed carry options before, back when she was toying with the idea but she did all the research on her own.
Last time I saw her, she had a Charter Arms Pink Lady that she used as a range toy.
I was only asking her about it because I was thinking of getting her a box of .38 specials and maybe a holster for Christmas.
Her carry purse has a built in holster in a designated pocket.

I'd be thrilled if one of my sisters bought a Glock.
One of them at least isn't afraid of guns, and her husband owns one handgun. She shoots once a year or two....
The other..... well.... I won't even get started there.....

I was surprised that after an extensive search for the right gun, my daughter buys a Glock 43. She loves it.

My wife still carries a Glock 23 but now days it's more open carry same as me. We are tired of paying $110.00 just to wear a shirt.

My ladyfriend keeps a Glock 19 handy. It's what works for her, and what she has confidence in. I think it's a great choice for someone who is not "into" firearms, but willing to put some range time in to learning it.

My wife carries (a 642) in a dedicated carry purse with a holster pocket. She's tried other ways, but keeps coming back to the purse.
Not ideal be better than "XXXX I wish I hadn't left my gun at home today."
She has a Glock 17 that she likes for a range toy.

I didn't even know about her Glock until recently. Last I saw her she had a Charter Arms .38 special and turned down the offer of a free holster.
If she wants one, I'll make it for her as a gift. Probably make a proper belt as well.

I recently bought a G42 and I like it very well, very compact and light
weight. I've put 300 rds of assorted FMJ ammo through it with no
malfunctions that I could blame on the gun. It will stove pipe with
weak ammo however. Easy to conceal in a pocket, my hands are fairly
small, but I would like to see what holster designs you come up with.

Go to your room, Rusty.
My sister is terrified of guns, though she has no problem with my carrying one. She also is afraid of blowback from OC spray. No amount of discussion of solid-stream sprays, etc., will budge her on this.
She's 65, disabled, and confined to an electric wheelchair, in which she goes everywhere, day or night. She carries a SOG Flash II that I gave her, attached to her key ring. It's very dull--she's also afraid of sharp knives. But I guess it's better than nothing.
I'm glad your sister is better armed, Snubby. Nothing wrong with Glocks, except aesthetically, and I don't even find them that ugly. They certainly work.

This is an excellent opportunity to educate her. Let her know that it will be difficult for a BG to take the pistol from her body, but it is easy for someone to snatch her purse. She'll get the picture.

I'm always glad....
I'm always glad to hear about anybody getting friendly with guns, but especially a women. They talk a lot about 'empowerment' and learning to use and carry a gun sounds like 'empowerment' to me. Being able to do something rather than just screaming for help.
Everybody likes having freedom to come and go as they please, and nobody wants to live in fear, but preparation in case you are attacked only makes sense. Besides having a gun they can travel in pairs, at least. It would be even better if the person they were traveling with had a gun and some training, too.
