Default I bought a Buck Impact

(Their first venture into making automatic knives). The piece has an S30V drop-point blade of 3.125" (Rc 59.5 - 60) aircraft aluminum handles, steel liners, plunge lock blade release button, wide "red your're dead" safety, deep pocket clip and a slow-close feature (friction on the blade with the lock). This allows for one hand closure with a gloved hand.

I like the knife and the price wasn't prohibitive. ($134.99 shipped from Blade HQ). A "Lifetime Warranty" from Buck is "gravy" for this tightly built auto. There isn't any blade play, and the blade comes nice and sharp from the box. This knife is a good value fro the dollar and will likely outlive you.

Anyone in the market for a decent folding knife of good value will find this worth the purchase price. I know I did.

Cheers.

But not the first automatic Bucks. I have always thought the Buck 110 auto conversions were cool. They always seem to be out of stock, though.
Buck Automatic Knives for sale - Blade HQ

Still, considering the typical prices of autos, the Impact does seem to be a good value.

I have one of the single-action, round-button, Buck 110 conversions, but the conversion voids Buck's "Forever Warranty". The 420HC (High Carbon) Steel tempered to 58 Rc is fine, but without the "Forever Warranty" it just isn't a Buck.

Incidentally, you can "build your own" Buck 110 (or 112) with a S30V steel blade on Buck's website. handles of Elk, cherrywood, Buffalo Horn, walnut, and others are available from their factory in Post Falls ID.

If this appeals to you, go to their website and tell Sarah I sent you (she handles their emails).
