Default Traded for a Taurus PT25

My favorite local pawnshop had one of the older style metal frame guns in stock. These tend to be a bit more reliable than its sibling the PT22. It remains one of the handful of .25 autos made in the United States. These guns seem to either work or they don't. Mine works.

Mexican made FMJ ammo sells for 15.99 a box locally, which is not too bad, and feeds and fires fine.

The .25 version holds 9 in the magazine and one in the chamber. It loades via a Beretta style tip up barrel. As such these pistols are often purchased by women, the elderly, or others who have problems manipulating a slide. Though this design has a long DAO trigger pull that makes it less suitable for such. It also has a manual safety and a magazine disconnect safety.

I happened to have an ankle holster that needed filling. The little Taurus, which really is not so little, cost me my unloved and unwanted Nagant revolver in trade. Eh, I like it. It is small but handfilling and not very heavy.

While they are not as popular as they used to be (or not at all popular), it can't hurt to have a good .25ACP handgun, IMO. In fact, it can't hurt to have any handgun that can fit in your pocket. You know me...

P.S. Seems to be a lost art, really small .25s. Tons of them, European models mostly, decades ago. Today's are bigger than they need be. Enjoy yours. Glad it works. Maybe try different brands of ammo in case the Mexican ammo you have is unavailable? Just a thought.

I like the .25acp. I think everybody should have a gun for those times when they can't carry a gun.

I have kept it strapped to my ankle since I purchased it. Many threads on the .25 have an even split of anecdotes between shot ten times in the head and did not notice versus one hit to the body and dead. It does what I want, which really is not much, thus I am not disappointed. It is much more controllable than micro .380s and safe enough to carry without worry (unlike some dubious striker fired .25s over the years). I like it within its limitations.
