Default Show us your .32 REVOLVERS

Several days ago member "policerevolvercollector" started a wildly successful thread on 32 acp pistols. Now I like bottom feeders as much as the next guy…heck, I even contributed a picture to that thread…but, really, we need to get 32 revolvers into the act too. So here's my start to the soon to be famous 32 revolver thread: my Ruger Single Six in 32 H&R, Smith 32 WCF (32-20) Hand Ejector and Smith 31-1 in 32 S&W Long.

Yes, they are dirty. The range does that to them.

Ok, I have only one -- a Model 31-1 snub.

I posted this pic before, but:

I carry it some times with Buffalo Bore ammo as shown below:

Found an I frame made about 1920, 6" bbl with adjustable sights. A J frame, pre-30 with a 4" bbl. A custom 5" bbl K frame in 32 long made from a 17-2 by Andy Horvath with Keith Brown Roper grips. Have a model 15 and a 6" PPC bbl in .32 for the next project. Looking for a 22 cyl for it now, let me know if you have one. Also a 6" 32 mag bbl for my T/C Contender to use as a 32 single shot pistol. Larry

This was my grandfather's S&W .32 Safety Hammerless "Bicycle" gun. He purchased it used at a hardware store in Memphis in the 1930's.

My dad got this before I was born. It was just always around. I broke the grips playing with it when I was a kid and my dad made these new ones. My son found the rat. It hangs on the garage wall.

Default Three that may not be shown yet

Here are three (3) .327 Federal Magnum revolvers. A Ruger GP100, a S&W 632-2 Pro Series, and a Ruger Single Seven. Now if I could only find a 3" for a reasonable price.

Default Family shootout at Dad's (Jim Fisher) house

Here's a couple revolvers from Dad's(bmg60) collection that we shot at his indoor range this past Thanksgiving. We were shooting for groups with no practice shots. 6 shots only with vintage ammo. Here are my targets with these two guns.
First was Model 16
Model 16.jpg

Next was a1905 First change shooting .32-20
1905 First change.jpg

Sorry the pics are mostly targets. I was trying to document groups and never intended to post them in a thread about .32's.

Little Freedom Arms 97 dual cylinder gun in 32 mag and 327 mag. Bowen did a grip frame modification so it is now a two piece grip frame and Roy Fishpaw did one piece snakewood grips.

Pardon the KelTec 32ACP, all the rest rotate.
From the upper left 31-1, 431pd, 16-4, 1903 4rd, pre Model 30, and a 1903 5th that had belonged to a North Carolina bootlegger.

H&R 732:

H&R "The American Double Action", and Hopkins and Allen Model of 1887 with folding hammer. Both date from probably the 1890s.

These two were in a case of "Parts guns" and I got them for 50 bucks apiece. Both were almost totally frozen up and super dirty. After a soak in Kroil and a thorough cleaning, they work just fine.

Here's some Iver Johnson 32s:
Photo 1: Two 1894 First Model, Small Frame. Top has five inch and is rare. Bottom has the normal 3 1/2 inch barrel. Note that the barrel latch is pivoted at the rear. Also note the small pushbutton in a diamond cutout on the top strap in front of the barrel latch This is the cylinder release so you can remove the cylinder for cleaning. It only lasted one year.

Photo 2: Closeup of the barrel latch and cylinder release.

Photo 3: 1895 First Model, Small Frame. This is a hammerless (internal hammer) revolver. It has a trigger safety, copied by Glock and others, that IJ calls the 'Safety catch'. The six inch barrel is quite rare. It has the barrel latch pivoted at the back but lacks the pushbutton cylinder release. To remove the cylinder you unscrew it from the cylinder pivot shaft.

Photo 4. Second Model, Small Frame, fitted with the Bourne Knuckle Duster. This has the 'T' shaped barrel latch, pivoted at the front, and stronger than the earlier type pivoted at the rear. They were a factory installation as the grip frame had to be drilled and tapped to receive the attaching screw. The knuckle duster has been around for a long time but this one was patented as an aid in holding the revolver steady.

More Iver Johnsons
Photo 1. The Secret Service Special. These were produced by Iver Johnson under conract for Fred Biffar of Chicago, who retailed them. Production started around 1912. Of course they have no connection with the US Secret Service. The Meriden Arms Company also produced their revolvers under the Secret Service Special name for Biffar. The revolvers produced by Iver Johnson were made on the US Revolver Company design which lacked the 'Hammer the hammer' feature. Some of the Iver Johnson revolvers had a pushbutton safety connected to the hammer that prevented the hammer from being cocked. The mechanism just above the grip is this safety device.

Photo 2. Third Model, Small Frame. This has positive cylinder stops and improved metallurgy. It is the only one of the IJ break tops suitable for modern smokeless powder ammunition. The revolver shown is fitted with oversize walnut grips called by IJ 'Western Grips'. They were fitted at the factory, as they required a hole to be drilled and tapped in the bottom of the grip frame.

I thought I wasn't going to get to play, then I remembered this old .32/20:

I keep meaning to letter it. Maybe I'll get lucky and it went to the Baldwin Felts Detective Agency and was on the wrong side of things in some West Virginia coal mine war.

Police Positive .32 with a Heiser IWB holster.

A gift from my old friend Ordnanceguy. It was in his father's closet since we were kids, I remember bugging him to show it to us.

Not a very good photo but great subject matter.

A Detective Special .32 with a Colt pocket holster.

Another S&W.

Colt Officers Model .32 with Sanderson grips and Roper front sight.

I like .32 revolvers.
Regards,
turnerriver
