Default Project: Colt Cobra- Before Photos

Yesterday I dropped in to my LGS. Jeff, the owner, asked if I was into projects, and I said, maybe, what do you have? He showed me a Colt Cobra, 3", blued, that was minus a side plate, cylinder latch, a couple screws, and an ejector rod head. There was a small bit of pitting on the cylinder, but overall, looked pretty good, the bore was shiny, and not much finish gone. I asked how much, and he said $125. I said I'd think about it, so I did for about two minutes, then it came home with me.

I hadn't done anything to it prior to the photos, besides finish the disassembly, or at least as far as I plan to. I've already started locating parts on the web, so this project is underway. I think I can make it a shooter for under a hundred bucks, I guess we'll see.

This isn't my first Colt snubby, but it is my first "snake" gun. I'll post more photos when the project is complete.

Any suggestions concerning the re-building of this would be greatly appreciated.

It's .38 Special, but I'd have bought it regardless of the caliber. It was also available in .32 New Police, which would have been okay, I'd just need to get dies in that caliber. .22 LR would have been okay, also. And I forgot to mention it's ser# 147xxx, which according to ProofHouse, dates it to 1964.

I have that exact same gun in .32 NP. It has a .32 H&R mag cylinder on it, though I still have the original .32 NP cylinder. The three inch barrel balances wonderfully on the Cobra.
