2nd new defective gun in a month...Glock 42
I bought a brand new Glock 42 for back up. Right out the box it constantly jams or refuses to eject 5 different types of .380.
A couple weeks ago I bought a brand new Ruger LCR .327. Again, it was defective right out of the box. Trigger jams at the rear of the pull.
Snapshots : Photo
The more I try all these guns, the better I like S&W. Have had dozens of Smiths...never a problem. What a disappointment the Glock is.
A gun store owner once told me Glocks are pieces of **** that keep on shooting. Well, this Glock is just a piece of **** that doesn't shoot.

Sorry to hear you are having problems with the G42. I would not hesitate to send it back for factory work or replacement. If you haven't already there is Glock forum that discusses that model in length. There were several modifications to the magazines as well as a few internal parts. The latest mags are stamped 03.
I purchased the same model several months ago and am satisfied with the performance so far. The mfg. date on my Glock was 9/15.
Seems like they either work or not. Not a good thing for Glock perfection.

Unfortunately, there have been MANY reports of problematic Glock 42's over the last few years. Go over to glocktalk.com and you will see. I have one and count myself lucky that it works ok. Send it back to Glock. Make them fix it for you. The 42 is known as Glock's lemon. I usually love Glock pistols and I own a bunch of them. But after the hundreds of posts I have read over the years that talk about G42 problems, there are definitely issues with that model.

I have a Glock 42 and they are known for requiring warm ammo to
function reliably. What are the five types of ammo you mention that
your 42 doesn't like? Many .380 owners assume that the various over
priced lightweight HPs on the market are best for SD. When
chronographed they often don't even achieve the same velocity as the
standard 95 gr FMJ loads. My 42 will fail to eject light loads and 90 gr
FMJ loads like PMC that run slower than most 95 gr loads. With 94-95
gr FMJ loads that chrono above 900 fps my 42 fired 300 rds without
cleaning with zero malfunctions. Yes the 42 is picky about ammo just
like most autos chambered for any thing smaller than 9mm. Remington
95 gr FMJ runs a little faster than the other domestic brands
according to my chronograph. Try some if you haven't already.

The G43 was developed using a consumer-funded test program called the "G42"

Sorry to hear about these problems.
My G42 has been great. My father has one as well, and it too has been flawless. I haven't had a problem with any ammo, including aluminum case Blazer.

Sorry to hear your problems with glock 42. My wife and I both have 42's no problems other than not liking some brands of ammo.It also needs a firm hold real picky about grip.

Glock has had some issues with the 42, some parts have been updated since they first came out to address this. Yours might be older stock or one that slipped through production. Either way they should take care of it.
My own 42 has been pretty much trouble free with standard loads. I did find it didn't like certain loads such as some of the very light weight hollow points or certain russian loads that seemed to be underpowered (fed through a Bersa they would cycle but barely cleared the gun). It runs best with S&B and Speer FMJ's and both Golden Saber and CCI Gold Dot HP's have also worked very well. I think it's a good design but needed some more development before it was put on the market. I certainly like it much better than the Ruger LCP and the Kel-Tec which I own.

I made the mistake of buying a Glock 42 as soon as they came out. It choked on everything, I could not get through a single magazine absent some sort of problem. It went back to Glock twice. I found the customer service (CS) less than stellar. The CS rep acted like he was doing me a favor by talking to me, and just could not believe a Glock would have problems. It took quite a bit but I got my money back and gave up on that model. My only Glock is a Gen II 23 that was retired with me. The range guys at my former agency rebuilt the gun a couple of years ago when things wore out and that began to jam too. It now runs like new but I don't carry it, too heavy and bulky.

My recently purchased G42 has been perfect. I Don't know the Mfg. date as it didn't come with a fired casing but it came with version 3 mags which are the latest. The only round it doesn't like are the "low recoil" 380s which are not recommended anyway. It eats everything I put it it that runs over 900 fps. No issues with WWB and it loves Freedom Munitions 124 gr XTPs. It's become my EDC.
