That must be quite a rifle. .41 cal, yet it will accept 38/357 according to the ad. Hope that's a typo!

It just said it would accept them....not shoot them !

Wish I had the bucks....would make a nice companion to my model 58 in 41 magnum. Maybe Santa will surprise me !

Ladder13 did you end up getting one? Curious to hear reviews and range report. Seems Henry makes a nice product. This could be the perfect compliment to my Redhawk and Blackhawk.

I picked one up a few weeks ago. It feeds cast swc slick as can be. It looked like my favorite Lyman 410459 sized at .410 was going to work, but then accuracy went out the window. I may have to go to a larger diameter.

If the bore diameter is .410, I would think you would have to be at .411-.412 with any cast bullet.

Lyman 410459 220gr SWC sized .410, 8.1gr Unique, 1.695" OAL. This is my favorite cast bullet for the .41 Mag, and it feeds through the Henry smooth as can be. With my Marlins you have to wiggle and jiggle the lever and hold the rifle just so to get the 410459 to feed. Accuracy of the 410459 looked good to start but has since gone down hill. I will try the Ranch Dog TL411-255 sized to .411 next and see how that works.

50 yards

Hornady 210gr JHP 21grs H110
50 yards

The wood is nice grained walnut, not fancy, but nice with a smooth satin finish. The receiver is a uniform non-glare satin black. The barrel and magazine tube could have used a little more attention though, it looks like they stopped polishing at 150 grit.
Trigger pull averages 5lbs. 3oz with about 1/16" of gritty creep, hopefully it will improve with use.

Here is a target from another day with the Lyman 410459 sized .410.
.410 is the only .41 sizer I have other than the push thru .411 for the Lee tumble lube Ranch Dog bullet. All of my S&W .41 Magnum revolvers have produced fine accuracy with .410 bullets but Marlin rifles and possibly the Henry prefer fatter bullets.

Very nice rifle, but you are right, the polisher must have taken an early lunch.

I loaded up some Laser Cast .412 215gr SWC. After a thorough cleaning of the bore I took a couple of fouling shots before I started putting shots on paper. First shot went almost dead center, then the next 7-8 shots made a vertical string between the 5 ring at the top down to the 4 ring. The rest of the 25 shots widened the group out and filled in the middle a bit.

Remginton 210gr JSP

I was going to try the Ranch Dog TL411-255 that was designed for the Marlin 1894 .41 Magnum, but it does not chamber in the Henry.

Not sure what to try next.

Have you tried the Lyman 41028 again...? Looked like fine accuracy out of that bullet.

Just wondering...is the barrel screwed into the frame or is pressed in?

I have not tried the 41028 again, I will give them another go soon. After shooting the .410 sized 410459 and 41028 I was getting some leading the first few inches past the chamber so I tried the .412 Laser Cast.
I finally broke down and ordered a .411 sizing die so I will see if that improves the accuracy with the 410459 and 41028.
With owning so many guns in one caliber, I guess it is futile trying to get one load to work well in all of them. .

Not sure on the barrel to frame attachment method.

With some better lighting I can now see some threads in the receiver at the extractor cutouts in the barrel.....So I would say it is screwed on.

Well, yeah, they'll go in the magazine tube just fine; then you pop them out to reload yer 38 revolver when you need them.
(running for my bunker now)

KO41 - I've looked at some Henrys locally over the years and found them inconsistent on metal finish as you noted on the barrel, and others finished smooth, but the bluing looked liked black spray paint from a rattle can. Henry gives value for the money, but I think need to work on consistency.

BTW, I really like the walnut furniture on your rifle. That's how it should be: walnut, crisp checkering and satin finish. I have a ca 1982 Rem 700 BDL that I like to shoot, but I hate the glossy, plasticky looking finish and the stamped checkering.
Is the finish on the Henry oil or some kind of varnish or lacquer?
