Default New AR

My wife thought it was so nice of my sons to buy me an AR for Christmas. Then the packages from MidWay started coming in. She didn't realize, new dies, shell holder, scope mounting equipment, bullets, brass, case, primers, mags, and a few other items. Don't think now she belives it was such a good deal.

Yeah, every time I get a new caliber it means another $100 or more for all the extras just to make it go bang. Still your kids did better than mine. Mine, especially the one Grandson are waiting for the old man to drop off so they can have all the spoils. Boy are they in for a shock when I sell it all off and spend the money on ME!

Something's are like buying an iceberg 90% is under the surface. ARs are great because changing uppers lets you start with new accessories. I can finally compete with the wife's basic black dress in terms of add ons. Hope you enjoy it.

Tell her it's o.k. You'll already have this stuff when you get the next ar.

My sons kinda like buying me guns. 1 heart attack, 3 stints, COPD, cirrhosis of the liver, (Funny cause I don't drink) and my neck has been broken twice. Wife thinks they are being nice to me. I know they are buying guns they like knowing they will be splitting them later. I'm all for it.

No kidding. Got myself a new Sig Sauer P290-380 on Black Friday at Field & Stream for the bargain price of 299.00. Some bargain. By the time I had purchase enough ammo to give me a stock of cases to reload, spare magazines, bullets, and dies that 299.00 purchased had evolved into a 700 dollar purchase. BTW, it's a nice little full DA semi with a decent trigger but Sig charges nearly 50 bucks for a magazine for it and you can't find hte 380 magazines anywhere but at the Sig Store. On the plus side down the road it will be a cheap shooter, plated bullets run about 70/100 and the powder required is in the 3 to 4 grain range.

About 5 years ago on Labor Day weekend we were camping about 150 miles from Home with friends and family. 2 of us ran into town for ice "and stuff". We came back with 4 bags of ice, a couple dozen hot dogs and buns, potato chips and a brand new Savage BA 110 in 338 Lapua Mag. The wife wife wanted to know why I bought that. I said it was the gun I had been telling her (since March 17th) I was buying and got a good price on it. A little over $1700. She responded, that it wasn't the cost of the gun , it was the cost of the accessories. So let's see; The brass ($1.85 each for 200) the bullets (about 165/500), the dies (Redding Competition $190), the shell holder ($8.99), the primers (Fed 215M $45/M), the powder (US 869 $165/8#), Scope Rings ($85), The scope ($ 2100 Nightforce NXF 5.5-22x56), the bi-pod($ 210 Sinclair International Tactical)= 1700 for the gun and about 3340 for accessories (Plus 7.25% Tax or S&H) The gun did come with a scope base (I plan on replacing!) I do think she has a valid point, but that wont stop me the next time either!

Ivan

P.S. The cheapest Factory ammo was Bitter Root @ $87/20 (4 boxes) and it shot terrible (4 MOA+/-) in my and 2 other guns! I didn't buy the Lapua when it was on sale $10.25 per round, silly me!

Yep, I use Midwayusa on a regular basis. My wife said who's Midway? Now it's Midway again? What did you buy this time.

On my next order I'm gonna include a note to Larry.

Larry going forward ship in plain brown paper and divide the bill up over several debits so it has a small chance to sneak by.

The problem is...
Women's thought process is... Hmmm, how do I hide money spent when I spend it?
Man's thought process is ... Mongo make make money - Mongo spend money - Mongo happy.

We do it to ourselves fellas.

I sent a note to MidWay complaining about the commercials where his wife gets new shoes when he gets something. Makes my wife think the same thing. Got a note back from MidWay saying they would forward it to the boss. Never heard from Larry though.

Gee, that sounds familiar. I just bought an AR, for the first time, then a Vortex scope, Burris rings, Magpul mags, (several), and I haven't fired it yet to zero the scope!
