Not 1911s, but they're in 45 ACP. Two Shansei 45s; the one on the right is probably 1980s production, while the one on th left is original from the 1930s.

Here's one you don't see very often. Para Ordnance SF-45-A.
This is a special edition P-14 from 2009-10 that was offered ONLY to active duty U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan through group buys.
This is the sales brochure that was sent out.
As you can see, it was quite a package at an amazing price. They could be customized with special designs or inscriptions to suit the buyers.
Interested units would get together, decide on what, if any, special markings they wanted and place a group order while "in country". Later, after returning home, the guns were shipped to a local FFL for individual pick up.
The design on the left rear of the slide is the unit patch for the Tennessee 278th Armored Cavalry. My younger son ordered two while he was in Iraq. He gave me one of them. I'm proud of the boy and will never sell this.

Don't see too many of those, have you ever fired it? I'm afraid to try mine, too hard to find parts for if I broke it!
And, nice collection. Your Rand looks pretty nice.

Hi Mexican Kerry;
The old Model 1905 came up from Mexico according to the previous owner who said her grandfather brought it with him when he came to Texas from Mexico.
I've fired about 200 rounds through it over the past 15 years that I've had it. It works really well with a 200 grain cast lead bullet over a middle-of-the road charge of Unique.

If it's in .45 ACP this is the one for me.
Just upgrade those sights to a set of illuminated Novak's get a good strong side holster & go get after it.

My favorite 1911 (of many).
In fact, I'll be shooting it in my club's service pistol match tomorrow:

Just another 1911. I have a modest collection of 4. S&W wearing buffalo bone grips. I think they look quite cool. Bob

Neat gun, but Im going to be selling it. I just can't love a 1911 without the WW2 look.

A few more. All of which I shoot on occasion.
A 1918 example of a Model of 1911 U.S. ARMY.
Remington Rand 1911A1 made in 1944.
Series 80 1911A1 with a lot of modifications done in the early 80's and was my weekly shooter for many years.

Wow... I can't believe I just found this thread. My first experience... and love of handguns were Colt 1911's. I have had a few over the years and regret selling every one of them.
That said, I have a couple of 1911 platforms to share.

Bob L...that was made by Hunter. The back is stamped with the word "Hunter" inside a powder horn and is a #55 M.
With DevilDog72's holster also being stamped with 55 these must have been a common design in their day.

Digging through my safe, I found a few more 1911s:
A couple years back, I managed to acquire the entire top end and other parts from a recovered Colt O1918 the frame from which had apparently been destroyed by the police (?).
Fitted it to a Caspian 1911 frame, and finished it to resemble an Augusta Arsenal rebuilt 1911 I shot long ago in the Army.
Colt Wiley Clapp Concealed Carry Officers. Very accurate.
Colt 9mm Combat Commander.
Colt Lightweight Defender 45. Punches above its weight!
That's enough for now, more later..

This is a Colt 1991A1, 1911, .45 ACP, made circa the 1990s. It has a Wilson Combat stainless steel barrel. All other parts are Colt original parts (except the trigger, which is, I think, a Springfield Armory trigger, but I'm not sure). Sorry for the poor photos, I cannot take good pictures, for some reason.

Looks like Photobucket has pretty much laid waste to this thread.
My favorite. This is Dan Wesson's entry level 1911 but has everything I want. Stainless, 70 series type, better sights, beavertail, no front serrations or billboards on the slide, drop dead pretty... The trigger is standard Dan Wesson. Awesome! Only thing I would add would be front strap checkering.
Not being on our not too unsafe roster I paid way above MSRP and quite happy to do so. Well... maybe not HAPPY...

Poor Phil only has one 1911 but it's a pretty good one.
For IWB I like Sparks VMII.
For retention I like DeSantis HRT made for FBI Hostage Rescue Team.
4th holster by David Keith, Haugen belt, & Solingen blade. Handle by Phil.
5th holster is Heiser 728, Haugen belt & mag pouch, & Puma Prince knife.

This is an original M1911 Colt. The picture was used as the frontispiece for my book 101 Classic Firearms.
