Here's a shooter I built last year.
Lucked into the complete top end from a new O1918 Colt.
Apparently a LE recovered firearm the frame from which was then destroyed.
Fitted it to a Caspian 1911 frame and finished it to replicate the rearsenaled 1911s used in WW2.

Got a springer GI model
But I was spoiled by DW, so it was clear I just needed to do it and snag an A2.
But something was still off

I bought this one new on April 5th, 1982. Have put only about 150 rounds through her. Paid $399.00 for it. Probably overpaid but I was a young, dumb kid.

Can't remember if I posted this before, but it's a nice one, so here it is again. Colt Gov't from 1931 with just a little blue wear. Bore is perfect. All original, including the mag. Holster is an El Paso Saddlery "Austin".

LEO918 - Is the gun on the right end a Dan Wesson PM7? I ask because if that's what it is, it looks like you replaced the full length guide rod with a GI length one. I'm curious if you had any issues finding a plug that fit. I have a DW PM7 and bought a new Wilson Combat plug so I could convert to a GI length guide rod, but the plug was too long. I contacted Wilson and they theorized that DW might cut their tunnels especially shallow. I'm curious what worked for you.

Linda Hamilton 1911.jpg
Two of my favorite things - Linda Hamilton and a 1911.
DSCF1520.jpg
My best shooter, a Series 70 MK IV with a Colt .22 conversion kit.
My favorite 1911 carry piece, a SIG 1911 Ultra Compact.
And my cleanest USGI, a 1918 Colt AA refurb.
DSCF4197.jpg
Then there is my Argentine from the 1950's of which I am quite fond.

Need to get a group photo with my Specialist some time. Older S&W PC 1911 on the right, wish they at least made their current PC 1911s without the ***** slide cuts - the barrel's not even ported, why bother?

This .45 has an actual service history - mine. While on active duty, I had this privately-purchased Ithaca M1911A1 accurized, and tested it extensively for flawless reliability. I carried it by preference to my arms room issue pistol during my tour of duty. I then carried it throughout my National Guard service, updating it with a few components.
The patches represent my Army service; the first is the patch for Field Command, Defense Atomic Support Agency - I served in it as an officer, with responsibilities in atomic weapons training, logistics and security. The second is the emblem of the 158th Infantry Regiment (Bushmasters) in the Arizona National Guard. The unit had a distinguished record during WWII in the Pacific theater. I was proud to be a member of it for several years.
John

Here's mine.
The box says its a 5" Government Model 70.
Its never been fired and I have no idea when it was manufactured.
I did add the new grips because they look nicer than the original black ones.

Yet another otherwise awesome picture thread devastated in the wake of the Photobucket Photopocalypse.
Although I must admit that this particular thread has faired much better that others on the virtue of having a decent amount of pics which thankfully weren't hosted by Photobucket.

BEC custom work
Here are the two latest to come to me from Lou at Business End Customs.
#15 was built from the ground up on frame & slide that Lou gets with his name on them. The other started as a Series 70 Colt reproduction and wears checkering by Pete Single, Bob nose treatment by Chuck Rogers and everything else is completed in house by Lou. These are some of the most purrrfect builds I've been able to look at and feel privileged to own them. Lou is an artist.
The 3rd one is an original series 70 Colt built by Bob Rodgers and refinished by Lou. I let someone try the gun and it got damaged, thus the refinish. This gun is amazing, just like Lou's guns, it's 100% reliable, very accurate, superb trigger and all the sharp edges have been dehorned. Bob is now retired but his guns when found command quite the premium.
The 4th gun is a Colt built by Jeremy Reid. He's a student of Bob Rodgers and does very nice work with a generous touch of his own giving his work a flavor of it's very own.
I previously posted #0003 back a couple of pages, it's a masterpiece that almost caused drooling the first time I saw it and I might have done so once I got it in hand. It's also, literally #3 of the guns built on BEC frame/slide.
