Very nice. A decade later the Winchester Model 12 would be put to use against Nazis and Japanese in WW2, to deadly effect for sure.

When I was a youngster, a friend had a model 12. No disconnector on that trigger, he could shoot 5 rounds as fast as I ever could with my semi-auto Browning Auto 5.

With a little practice the Winchester pump was faster than the Browning A5 Auto, back in the day.
Just don't release the trigger and keep pumping...........
A few years back, My Winchester pump with "Mag" Steel loads for Ducks was so heavy
that the pump section would be in the rearward motion as the shell went off
and the recoil kicked in !!
I reduced the load a little..............

The Model 12 is the finest pump shotgun ever made, albeit somewhat on the heavy side. It was just too expensive to make to keep it in production. I remember someone famous (but not who) saying that a hunter with a Model 12 never has to feel inferior about it regardless of what guns the others around him have. I have two of them - a 1941 12 gauge and a 1913 20 gauge.Tthe early Model 1912s were made only in 20 gauge with a 2-1/2" chamber. The prevailing opinion is that it is not dangerous to fire present-day 2-3/4" shells in a 2-1/2" chamber, but empties may be somewhat difficult to eject. What I have discovered is that 20 Ga. Remington and Winchester 2-3/4" plastic shells function OK, but Federal fired shells hang up in the ejection port every time, and are a pain to remove. Federal plastic shell cases are slightly too long. Many believe that the M12 is a John Browning design, but it's not. Rather it was T. C. Johnson's design.

As much as I like an 870, I have to give the nod to the old model 12. I have a riot model that I love.

Yes sir you are correct, in fact I have one of those used during WWII and with the addition of the 17 inches of steel hanging on the front it is truly intimidating.

A guy I know just died. I have his 16 gauge Model 12 in my shop. I’ve never owned one but understand they are great.

One of the older members at our club had a Model 12 trap gun. His son-in-law inherited it. I was shooting Sporting Clays with him, with that gun he had 29 out of the first 34 birds, not a big surprise except he was shooting from the hip!

Hello, I have 2 copies of Winchester 12 in 16 caliber, the two were restored one of them was my small hunting weapon for a long time, with it hunts partridges (they are similar to quail), rabbits and ducks. The good thing is that I still use them.
Sorry if my text is not clear but since I do not speak English I use a translator.
Thank you.
