My new EVIL ASSAULT RIFLE
Well, I just got my new C39v2 this afternoon and spent some time taking it apart and examining it on the conference room table at the Public Defender's office (can't bring it into the house just now- ). FOrst impressions:
First off that new kid from New York down here to change the world kinda blanched when he walked in to my field stripping the gun I explained to him that the 2nd amendment is just as important as the other 9 in fact more so as they put it #2 right behind #1 which gives me the freedom to be an a hole.
Next-this is a pretty well put together AK47. Finish is very good-wood to metal fit is tight-all around the weapon just looks good and feels well put together. No canted sight-just a nicely put together gun. Came with two (2) Magpul 30 round mags. I think Century Arms had hit a home run with this one-I mean how can you go wrong building one of these from scratch (disclosure-I am NOT an AK snob this is my 1st one. If I'm not supposed to like it because it doesn't have a cleaning rod or bayonet lug-or is made in the USA by Century Arms please don't tell me cause I like it anyway)
Can't wait to get it to the range-waiting for my ammo to get here.
Finally, I have to express my admiration at the pure genius of Mr. Kalishnikov. The simplicity of this weapon is amazing and cannot be appreciated fully until one gets his hands on it and breaks it down. I am really looking forward to shooting the snot out of it. This and my mini 14 with that wonderful garand action are two examples of firearms design genius.
One of the best thing about out hobby at least to me, is just the examination of the machine and the interworking of the parts-One can really appreciate firearms design even without shooting-but rest assured I'm gonna shoot the snot out of this one
And yes-I bought this over the AR because I WANTED the "bad guy's" gun! So there. now I've just got to learn how to wrap my Shemagh

No shortage of NYers that are unable to grasp that whole Bill of Rights-thing. He and his comrades have made AKs banned here. Use yours in good health caje....Feel free to keep the anti, we got plenty!

Congrats on picking up a decent rifle..google 7.62X39 ammo caj... you will have a wide selection of ammo dealers to chose from... Like you, I've wondered about picking up a decent old semi AK47... if made right... they are extremely dependable.... but a fellow needs to accept the fact that they aren't the target rifles/long range rifles like a good AR platform.. M1 Garand or M1A/M14 clones generally are...

Don't store the Mini-14 and the AK in the same safe...a war could erupt.

Without photographs or some type of tangible evidence, did this really happen? Perhaps a power point showing the field stripping process on the conference table would be in order.
Lock and load!

Built an AR a couple of years ago only because "they" don't want me to have one. Wonder how many more have built or bought for the same reason. For sure, they are fun to shoot.

My Dad was trained on the Enfield No.4 way back when, and when I pulled apart my WASR he asked where I had hidden the rest of the parts. He could not get over how simple a semi auto rifle could be.
Kalashnikov was a master of simplicity, but the AK actually looks complex when you compare it to the operating system of a MAS 49/56.

Back when Romy G kits were available for $89 a pop I picked up a couple and had Armory USA put one of them together on a 1.5mm receiver. It does not get shot as much as my Garands or ARs but you are right, everyone needs one of the "bad guys" guns.

Let us know when you shoot it. They're a hoot! If you get a chance, fire it into water alongmside your mini 14. That .30 caliber round makes quite a splash compared to the .223.

Pretty disappointed Caj.... When the Millennial from New York City walked in the room, you should have asked him to hold it , so you could get some pics of it. When you got 4-8, you should have then asked "would it be OK if I tagged you in these pics in Facebook??".... Then snapped another pic, just to help remember the look on his face....

A good friend of mine has the Century 39. We put it side by side with my Bulgarian Arsenal SLR101 and they are very similar and nicely put together guns. You're going to love the milled receiver, just slightly heavier than stamped but really helps with accuracy. That my be the best bang for the buck in AK's out there. I have both milled and stamped from Arsenal and milled is more accurate. People like to tell you that the milled does not make much difference. I think it is just like every gun out, there people will always argue to justify the one they bought as being as good as it gets.

That's awesome Caj... you're gonna luv it.. I have several as well, I always crack a smile at the crack of my AK's.... always get attention.. Oh ya... don't buy into the "not very accurate" bs... for their intended use.... they work just fine.. and work...... and work.... and work

There isn't a difference in accuracy between milled and stamped. No practical difference anyway. Each gun however is different, as you know, so results will vary but there really isn't any difference....which is why majority of milled AKs are old and in 3rd world countries. Most major countries that field AKs have been using stamped for a very long time.
Here's a stamped ak at roughly 100 yards. With Lapua ammo. The bottom holes are us sighting it in but we couldn't see well where we were hitting. That shoot and see target works better

Those of us that have been fired upon by one of these with the original ammo can attest to the unique auditory signature they have, that was designed to cause those on the receiving end to flee. A sound that is hard to describe, but one that isn't easily forgotten. The best light infantry round/rifle in the world, with something like 60 Million of them out there.

This ain't the smartest thing to do but it sure is fun to watch
After you watch him destroy the AK look what he does with the AR and the Glock

Nice move. I can't own anything up here now. I had to register evil guns and large capacity mags. I sold off a lot. I did keep my saigas.
Lube that ak with moly.

Nice buy. I have seen alot of those Century Arms rifles around, and have been tempted to buy either the AK or H&K models.

Cajun:
I bought a Century Arms semiauto AK from AIM in 2001, the model designation then was SAR-1. Took it apart and cleaned it, something Century wasn't much into then. I wish I had bought the underfolder instead, for just a tad more of the darkside cachet these things seem to have.
They are fun to shoot. I won't run corrosive ammo through mine, there is plenty of non-corrosive around. Terrible trigger, imprecise sights, but hitting something man-sized at 100 yards is fairly easy. Tremendous plinker.
I haven't had any stoppages yet, in well over 1,000 rounds, mebbe 1,500. I usually take my Norinco SKS along and shoot it, too. The SKS seems to me to be a better rifle while the AK seems to be a better fighting tool.
Stay away from Korean magazines. My last batch of mags were purchased from AIM, all oily with a little grease, a few scratches but they look unused. They are Polish in origin. Ordered online in December and AIM shipped quickly.
A fellow on FAL.Files.com printed up T-shirts with a kitten holding an AK, known as the KALASHNIKITTY. He may be selling them on other forums as well. Little girl above would look great in one!

The SAR1 was/is actually Romanian. It's the predecessor to the WASR. Century only imported them. Where as the C39 is actually made by Century

Way to go Caj! Welcome to the AK forty seven, seven point six two by thirty nine millimeter club. Go ahead start with a 1000 rnd bulk buy, you're gonna need it to feed the beast. I have the C39 first gen and have shot the snot out of it for sure. Not one single malfunction in over a thousand rnds of Wolf WPA.

That's why I bought my first AR and it was because they were telling us they didn't want us to own one. I bought the second one this week a S&W Sport II because the first one got lonely in my gun safe.
