Default Another D frame Colt

Just put another D Frame Colt on layaway. The Colt bug has bit hard....I have three now, including the E frame Officer's.

The gun on layaway is a 3rd issue Police Positive probably from the late sixties, as it has the shorter grip frame, I believe a 4" barrel, .38sp. The hammer has been bobbed, but nice DA trigger and the SA feature is still there.
Very nice mechanicals and timing is fine. It's a good looking working gun, decent bluing but worn in the usual spots. Nice chambers and bore.
It has some aftermarket stocks that look very seventies or early eighties, similar wood checkering pattern as many wood panels offered for the 1911 pistols of the era, sort of a diamond patterned with a few different colors...best I can describe.
Despite being a 4" gun, it's small as anyone familiar with the D frame can attest, unique proportions like a longer barreled Det Special and noticeably smaller than a similar k frame from S&W.
A few weeks away, with luck. It should look like this with shorter stocks.

There are worse bugs to be bitten by. I have one D frame, am always on the lookout for another.

Otreb: Glad you managed to pick up a later vintage PPS. The early ones I'm accustomed to were security firm issue and in bad shape: out of time, spitting lead, and jamming up. Would love to hear/see how a later PPS shoots. Nice snag!

So far I have been fortunate in finding nicer old Colts with strong mechanicals. This one appears fine....I'm more a fan of the pre-war guns, but this and 1966 dated Cobra impress me.
I suspect the stocks I was trying to describe are Herrets and they use the same 'double diamond' pattern as their popular 1911 panels.
